Great trail, packed dirt most of the way. Steep enough to get a workout, but not too much. Beautiful Ponderosa pines!

Steep. Short. But beautiful views once you get to the top! Must have a vehicle with good clearance to get to trail head. Some people parked and walked the road however. Once you turn off highway... make sure you turn up the hill before you get to residential area. I was chewed out for going too fast and driving past the “residential” signs. Oops!

Great Hike, beware of ticks, we hiked with our two dogs and we had several ticks on us and pulled 9 of them off of our dogs. Great hike with some pretty steep parts, may be a little bit harder than moderate for some, but worth it.

So much to see and explore! Went with 2 dogs, they loved it.

The trailhead had a sign saying the trail is closed from Oct. 14 to Mar. 21. Great trail with awesome views. Logging was taking place between Glacier Peak and Sauer's summit, so just a tad of bush whacking was needed to go around that. Would love to do it again and go farther North to the other peaks beyond Sauer.

the only reason I don't give this 5 stars is because you must pass through someone's backyard in order to start the trail, that makes it a little bit confusing but the trail is absolutely amazing. a little bit difficult for those who might not be used to hiking on a regular basis but the views are spectacular as stated in many of the reviews.

Made the trek to this trail after Labor Day weekend, and was not disappointed. For how close one can get, this is a top-5 for me regarding the view = STUNNING! I can't recommend this one enough given the approach, trail, and amazing spot for lunch. If you enjoy alpine lakes in central Washington, do yourself a favor and figure out a way to get to this trail.
DIRECTIONS - Directions from AllTrails gets you to the turn off 97 and up a pretty open forest service road - 7305. A couple miles up and you'll get to a fork with two equally well-maintained roads, with the Left the one you want. We didn't see the road marker in the brush on the way it, but there is one if you root around a bit. The road has some pretty deep ruts, and while our Rubicon had not issues, you'll need some clearance to get to the end.
TRAIL - mostly very nice soft dirt the entire way; this is a surprise given how rocky some of the other local trails are. You'll find you have a pretty even gain in elevation the entire way, with the last bit a little more interesting before the nearly unbelievable summit on a beautiful ridge line.
SURROUNDINGS - you get two very different scenes on the east side of the ridge you climb up and the west side you can see when you reach the top. Beautiful alpine forest, decent amount of shade, no bugs, it was pretty idyllic.
OVERALL - As I said at the top, this was such a surprise and such an amazing day. It's hard to describe getting to the top and looking out over Snow Lake, Chair Peak, and the Temple. Such an incredible bit of Creation!

Gorgeous views. Hike was nice and gradual. Had my almost 2yr old in our backpack and we both loved the trail!

Chipmunks galore!! There were chipmunks everywhere and they were hilarious jumping off of high places to "get out of the way.".

This trail is a pretty steap and continuous climb and we had to turn back early (after 1 mile) due to not everyone being in shape. We got to the woods area, it's a great hike! Besure to get a national forest pass.

Great hike. Fairly quick in itself with stunning views of the Enchantments. This is the Wedge Mountain proper route, not the other one listed. The road up takes a while to get up and requires a vehicle with a decent amount of clearance, but is doable with 4x4 and slow pace. Flowers are still out and insects aren't much of an issue. Overall worth checking out, if you don't mind the rough road up.

Beautiful wildflowers and vistas throughout the trail. The fellow selling wine at the bottom of the trail was a great addition.

Great strenuous hike on a beautiful day and what a view.

This trail is closed. Tried to go the other day and it’s not a public Trail.

A dry hot hike in the summer with a lot of full sun. I recommend doing it on a mild temperature day. Pretty steep and narrow at the beginning.

Hard trail with beautiful views along the way and an astounding Panorama at the summit! Some switch backs but mostly up hill trekking. Hiking boots recommended and saw a lot of hiking poles being used as well.

Trail was slightly confusing at points but everything split off simply leads in a circle to the main trail. Also the beginning of the trail is in a fine Gentleman's yard who sells delicious, home made red wine. Try it!

This was a bit more than moderate. Hiking boots are best! It is 6 miles round trip and 3100ft. Better to do in the morning not mid day sun.

Beautiful hike with the wild flowers. Wear good boots or hiking shoes with grip. No running shoes for the decline. Older gentlemen who built the trail 28 years ago is at the bottom selling good white wine. Told us it took him 3 years to build by himself. Beautiful sights of the enchantments. A little narrow in spots with a hard drop... so be mindful. The trail is also uphill for a majority so if you aren't in good shape, you might want to take your time. Can't wait to go back in a couple weeks!

Gorgeous views. Views all the way up, not just at top.

Fun family-friendly trail. Pretty wild flowers throughout. Very pastoral. Mostly open and exposed so bring plenty of water and sunscreen.

Amazing wild flowers now. Yellow bantams in full bloom everywhere. Quite a sight to see! Purple lupine just beginning. Blue bells at higher elevation. Recommend the left turn at fork to see best views south and west of Leavenworth, valley, and enchantments in distance. Very steep at some points, especially top. Was dry with loose gravel Wednesday 5/3, feet slipped some. We took north east loop back, much easier and better on 51-year old knees for descent. Love love loved hiking this. Plenty of shade for water and snack breaks. Highly recommend.

Right now m here at the peak and it's awesome.

Hiked out here yesterday with friends, it sure was a beautiful day for it. I was disappointed that the wildflowers weren't in full bloom so my friends could see how beautiful it can be. I'd give it 2/2 1/2 weeks and they should be in full bloom. I'm glad we got there early, we past many people on our way back down and there must have been at least 20 cars at the trailhead.

Nice trail! Heavily used. Will return on weekdays for the wildflowers and views.

Sunday, October 02, 2016

So, this is steep and the trail is narrow...with some areas that have drop offs. If you are afraid of heights, hike with extreme caution. Beautiful views of Leavenworth and the Enchantments.
