Great area to get out and go for a jog or just enjoy the nature, there is an ADA accessible paved path, but you can also go further out on the dirt path. You can usually see hawks about half way out, sometimes you see RC planes in the field next to the mounds.

The people complaining about gunshots must not go very far in because you definitely don't hear it the whole trail, occasionally by the entrance you do hear the sportsman's club enjoying their freedom and exercising their 2nd ammendment rights.

Nice walk through the woods that leads to a great view of Henderson Inlet. The main road that leads straight to the inlet could be easily traveled with a stroller, but if you are planning on taking the trail through the woods and you have a stroller I wouldn't recommend it because there are a few places where you have to go up and down stairs and there are spots on the trail where tree roots are out of the ground which would make pushing a stroller difficult. We had binoculars and could see seals soaking up some sun on the pier out in the water. The trail wasn't busy and is well maintained and clean.

Nice easy walk. Good overlook of the Nisqually river. Completed the entire walk with 4 kids the youngest one is 10 so it's definitely an easy walk. If you look you can watch Bald Eagles flying around. The trails were clean and maintained.

Always a nice peaceful walk.

This is a great trail, especially for a day when you have limited time. Its proximity to town makes it convenient, but also a regular haunt of some unsavory types. I've seen more than one report in the last few years of women who take this trail alone being sexually assaulted. Take precautions if you're alone, or go with a friend.

Gorgeous little park to take a walk down to the water. Great views from the beach.

I used to live a couple of blocks from here and only walked down once. It’s s pretty little pocket but nothing to write home about.

Charming little walk around the park. What’s not to like?

Gorgeous views of the Sound and the Olympics on a clear day. Peaceful and a short walk/bike ride/ drive from downtown Olympia.

This was my backyard for several years and is s nice place to safely walk in town without having to concern yourself with traffic. Great views on clear days.

Took my dog and son on this trail, we made our hike a little longer because we took the trail down to the beach, so it was a 2.4 mile trip for us. Beautiful and mostly shaded.

I love to walk this trails

Beautiful day on the trail and had it all to ourselves.

Great hike, wonderful for all ages.

I live very close to this trail so it is one I do often. Very well shaded so ideal for summer and very few areas of incline. I have brought my kids and dog and they have no problem with any parts of the trail.

The loons, Henry. The loons. Great walk. The only thing I would do differently is maybe wear lighter shoes. Danner boots were definitely overkill.

Great for the family.

prefect trail to take little ones on. has a very peaceful setting for its location.

This is a short little hike but so worth it. The trail is well marked and maintained better than most. From the trail head you hike down 1/10 of a mile and then the loop begins and you are sucked out of the hustle and bustle of the city and surrounded by a peaceful rainforest with birds chirping and the trickle of water. Such a relaxing get away, all be it for 30 minutes or so. Came across several other hikers and a few with dogs. If there is one thing to be aware of it would be the trail head parking. There only seems to be enough for about 10 vehicles, with that said there was parking available when I arrived and as I left.

Great trail that is mostly shaded with a few great views of the Capitol. Completed about 2 miles of the trail with my dog and three kids at a meandering pace in a little under an hour. There are a few steep elevation climbs and declines that can be challenging for older 2 & 4 leggers. Best part is it is right in town if you are from Olympia.

Absolutely beautiful run along an amazing park. The waterfalls are terrific! Very short so you may want to walk it twice…but definitely peaceful walk.

it's an easy hike with lots of great nature to explore: ponds with turtles, frogs, ducks, salamanders. Lots of birds. many amazing wild berries. garter snakes on sunny days.

the trail has a section through a sunny meadow, and a quieter, shadowy forested area with a winding trail

Pretty nice walk with not many people during the week.

Nice short walk in a proper wood with great views of the Puget Sound and plenty of history and nature. Fairly busy on a Friday, and lots of mosquitoes in the forest loop. Great birdsong everywhere!

Interesting trail with ups, downs and tree roots to watch out for. Recommend a walking stick for the steeper areas and bring your bug spray. It's a little slice of forest heaven in the middle of the city

Awesome variety of vegetation, clean, very shady. only a few hills and many photo opportunities. Dogs love this trail.

Super easy walk. My kids didn’t complain. Went during low tide but we still enjoyed it and the nice weather. Will go back during high tide like others suggested.

Beautiful views and easy to walk trail.

Interesting geography and a nice little interpretive center. I caught the end of wildflower season and was there on a hot day-- bad idea as there was no shade. Saw hawks diving for prey. Recommend going on an overcast day.
