A good walk along the water and a great view of the capitol. I went during the day and It wasn't too crowded. Many dogs of all variety and adults and children alike. Want to go back to see the sun set over the water.

A nice escape from the city, but not stroller friendly and I did manage to get off track several times. There are multiple trails within the loop and easy to get lost. I had to travel uphill a few times as well. I would like to try it again sometime with a carrier for my little one.

I love this trail. It’s a nice climb to the loop lots of forest to see and not too long I’m wondering if any one has any info on the trail across the hi-way on the other side

Very nice for a city hike.

This is not only a logging area, but the trails are also primarily used by dirt bikes/ATV’s, so unless you want to potentially run into one around a blind corner, I can’t recommend this trail for hiking. Also, an extremely rocky trail.

Not too bad of a birding trail. A LOT of Towhees! Not much of a trail for sight-seeing or even strenuous.

Beautiful walk along the rushing water. the whole area is kept very nice. I liked that you can walk on either side of the river and then they meet on a bridge at the end. Short 10 minute walk each way. Very well worth it!!

nice trail. well kept up. not hard at all but it did have enough elevation gain to remind me just how out of shape I've become over winter.

Glad I went south to start, along the creek, and slowly gain altitude rather than heading off to the left and climb the mountain all at once.

only hiker then after 4:00 a small handful of cyclists appeared.

will be doing this one again.

Nice and easy hike! We got there by 10am and by the time we left it was starting to get busy.

Great hike with good amount of up and downhill!

Beautiful little trail in the city.

I like this trail for its proximity to town. Great for walking and appreciating your surroundings, or a quick run. Discover Pass required.

This prefer this area for nature viewing or a leisurely picnic. The Pond Trails are lovely and short. The Connector and Forest Trails are a nice short run with some elevation variance, but not as pretty, and cross the road (twice). Discover Pass required.

One of my favourite trails for its elevation gain. This part of the forest is beautiful. If you're looking for something longer, there's another trailhead just across the street (same side as parking). Discover Pass required.

I did this the other day as a trail run. 40 bird species. Great views and forests for sure. I did the three peaks on the western side - Capitol, Larch, and Rock Candy for a bit more fun. Quite a day.

The best city hike for 50 miles. Lots of people of all ages enjoying the sights.

One of the best for miles!

A nice flat trek around the lake. a lot of joggers and dog walkers. A great place for some cardio in the middle of town.

absolutely great walk, easy trail, beautiful day.

Trail is short but sweet. As of April 18, 2018, the trail is closed due to a large fallen tree across the path. April 24, 2018, trail reopened.

I ran on this trail just to say that I've been there. It was very crowded and I probably won't come back, but it is a nice little loop to walk around and enjoy the lake and the view of the capital building.

I love coming here when there is snow. It is easy to get lost around here, so he familiar with your surroundings or have a map

I love this trail! Improvements have been made to widen sections of the trail and spread gravel on the trail. I make it a point to run this whenever I am in town. It is a gem!

Perfect place to get in a quick easy walk!

Peaceful walk.

This loop trail is just north of the Tumwater Falls trail. It is flat, but very scenic with ducks and other water fowl. On the east side are an old power plant and the state capitol building. There are bathrooms at the main parking lot and at the half way point. The marina is on the north side, with numerous bars and restaurants nearby. The north side has a large grassy area with picnic tables. There are numerous benches around Marathon Lake.

Mother nature at its finest. The falls and river, run along the edge of the former Olympia Brewery. This is a very easy short walk, with a footbridge. There are numerous spots for the perfect photo. Next to the parking lot are bathrooms and a salmon fish hatchery.

Adjacent to the parking lot (east) is a large bridge with a totem pole. Take the stairway, just outside the south side of the parking lot. The sign alongside the totem poll states: The beginning of the Inside Passage to British Columbia and Alaska. Keep your eyes open, for the parking lot, it is easy to miss.

This is a very nice and easy walk around the lake. The description is miss leading, this is not horse or atv friendly and a fair chunk of it is on sidewalk. My son and I enjoy walking around the lake along with the capital and the neighborhood's. There are great views of Olympia along with great old architecture.

Nice scenery with several inclines for someone that wants more than a flat walk.

Beautiful walk, short and easy
