can be a little rough going up if you're out of shape like me, but the view is worth it once you get to the top.

Nice cool hike for sunny day

This hike was the busiest hike I've ever been on hands down. It's a beautiful hike and the view at the ledge is so worth the effort! I'd suggest going early on this hike.

Finished hike at 7:30pm tonight. Took 4 hours round trip. Agree with other reviewers this hike is 4 miles up and 4 miles down. At the top are rocks to climb and mosquitoes and biting flies. Feet and quads get punished going down. Poles really help on the hike.

Great trail, still lots of snow after 3500 ft, few gullies crossing, long and steep traverse at the end, awesome scrambling to the top. Bring ice axe and spikes, at least now

Pretty easy hike up to mason lake. Started at about 1pm and there were plenty of parking spots cleared out from the morning crowd. There are some steeper sections and then a little bit of snow as you hit the fork and head down to the lake. Had the pup with us and saw lots of other people on the trail.

This is definitely a hard hike. My Garmin GPS tracked this hike at 8.5 miles roundtrip from the trailhead to the top with about 3250 feet of climb. (My thighs were burning at the end.) The trail itself is in good shape overall and is pretty wide by most WA hiking trails standards. There isn't much signage aside from the trailhead, but there are enough people going up and down that you just need to follow the crowds.

The parking lot of good sized but I'd recommend arriving early to ensure getting a parking spot. You will need a WA Discovery Pass and there are no day passes available at the trailhead (or in the parking lot).

It was overcast and drizzly the day we did this hike but it made for a comfortable hike up (ie, not too warm).

Well maintained trail, lots of space to park. Views are amazing but it is very crowded always.

View was breathtaking. We got a late start this day and didn’t make it to the trail head until 11ish. Parking was already packed, and crowded. Tons of people, which would be expected since it was 11. Trails were well maintained.

Trail open all the way to Olallie Lake today. Some mud, ice and snow after Talapus so wear ankle high hiking boots if you continue on to Olallie which is covered in snow.

it had an amazing view i went at about 8:30 and it was amazing.
it's a great place to hike and if you wanted after your hike you could go swimming and soak your feet.
im definently going to recommend this hike to all of my friends.

Well I wish I had picked a better day to hike this. While I enjoyed the hike to the top (mostly shaded and through a wonderful forest with steady elevation gain) unfortunately it was raining pretty much the entire way up and so we didn’t get too much of a view on the top. Also too many pebbles on the way down. But it’s a great hike if you want to get away from the crowd.

About died! Hahaha amazing hike hard switch back but didn’t prepare! Be prepared!! -great finishing view

Trail was very crowded but had decent parking and nice scenery. Restrooms were there but they were pretty bad with flies, no sink and out of tp. Nice viewpoint. We took our three kids (8,6,4) and they had no problem completing the entire loop. There are lots of rocks and roots on the trail so watch your step.

Beautiful hike through second growth forest. Trail is rocky, but well groomed. Gorgeous views at the top. Go mid week for fewer people on trail.

Beautiful view from left to right. Not gonna lie the walk was challenging, but the view made it all worth it. Definitely would go back :)

I’ve done this trail twice now, once while I was in really good shape because of soccer and just yesterday (2 1/2 years later). This hike can be quite exhausting if you haven’t been regularly physically active. However, it will make for a great hike to kick you back into shape! The trail can seem never ending because there isn’t a scenery change until you have reached the top. The view is absolutely gorgeous and 100% worth your time and energy. There is also a “mini mountain” you can climb that you’ll see in the distance once you’ve reached the “top” of the Mount Si trail; it does involve rock climbing skills, so I would not recommend it to everyone, but it offers an amazing 360 degree view from the peak. Cheers!

Hard but well worth the views

Good little hike

The view was absolutely breathtaking. The trail was clean and was not too busy when we went :)

Amazing little hike to the falls and not very difficult at all. But after the falls the real hike begins on a steep incline to the peak for a 360 degree view. Take caution on your way up because the trail isn’t well traveled and can throw an inexperienced traveler off. My favorite hike so far!

Love this sweet, short, and serene hike! A great stroll just after dinner ;)

Got a bit turned around in the last quarter mile and couldn't find the balcony. Headed back since the sun was coming down. Will come back and try again! Trail is marked poorly (rocky/downed trees) - would like to come back when I have more time and put markers up.

Cut my own trail for certain portions. Bugs are out and saw a Mountain Kingsnake. Trail sees very little traffic. On the bright side I saw some great wildflowers and got a good workout in with the pup.

on Mailbox Peak Trail Loop

Hiked up the old trail and back down the new one. This was super hard for me. I wouldn't suggest anyone with bad knees to go up or down the old trail. I got past the main rock area and was shocked when I realized I had to keep going up the hill to the mailbox. It was a very challenging with loose rocks and slipping from the dust. However with support of my hiking buddy, I made it to the top. If I were to do this one again, I would only do new trail. Do bring Trekking Poles!! That is a must have!

This was a fun trail! I really enjoyed the view! It is a quite popular spot to go to. So I would suggest going early to get a good spot to sit on the ledge and have a quick snack. Please be careful out on the ledge as well. Also went to the East Peak and ended up kind of lost. So I would say stop when you see the bench!

We hiked the old trail, it was tough but great, there is definitely some need of maintenance on the trail but overall it was a challenging hike. Must go early it gets really packed by 11am with the new trail opened. This hike gets kind of noisey with all the people. So, if you're looking for a quiet hike go on the old trail early. We got there at 6am it was nice.

Trail is open now and is fantastic - for the distance and effort, the payoff is among the best I’ve seen in WA.

The access to it is just over the bridge on the right-hand side - you have to cross over the bridge’s barrier to start the trail.
