Fort Flagler has always been one of my personal favorite trails. History intermingles with natural beauty on this three mile trek, as you meander through wide open fields and through decommissioned WWII-era bunkers. Note: A Discovery Pass is required as this is a Washington State Park.

For most, the trail begins in a modest corner of a forested campground by the beach and turns quickly uphill. Before long the trail opens to a sweeping meadow, framed by trees to the east and the gorgeous Port Townsend Bay to the west. Be wary on the cliffs, but do get close enough to take in the grandiose water views available here.

very beautiful. easy walk for the kid's. if you want you can walk from the trail down to the beach. the only reason it's not 5 stars in my opinion is it boarders a road so if your looking for a hike deep in the woods this isn't it. but it's beautiful and i will go back.

Ask for a map at the entrance booth. It gives a good synopsis of the hiking trail highlights. We took a stroll on the shoreline to do some birdwatching. Five minutes into it I spotted a very Manly bald eagle! Made the trip.

Windy = Bring a kite.
Hot = Bring a swim suit and sun block.
Cold = Bring fire wood.
Site has a playground for kids and little store for forgotten items. Go hike to the Search Stations and Bunkers for additional fun. Mostly a RV camp spot but seen lots of tents. Recommend sharing the cost with friends and all camp (tent) it the same spot. Discovery Pass is recommended and will cost you $10 a person without it.
