This was a really nice hike with a good variety in incline and landscape. The first part of the trail is along the river and we came across a huge field of wild yellow irises! Great photo opportunity. There's a tiny little bit of climbing over some rocks in the beginning but otherwise it's a clear trail which eventually meets a road you have to cross. Signage is clear and the trail is easy to follow. Around the third mile you start making your way up the hill for a beautiful view of Spokane river. There's a nice stop with rocks where you can sit and take in the view, but if you keep going a little further and venture off the trail just a bit (you'll reach the highest peak - go left off the trail) you'll get an even better view. But WATCH out for mosquitoes. We did this in the afternoon arriving at 2 pm. A couple hours in, the mosquitoes came out at full force. My lucky husband was fine but I'm basically mosquito food and I'm miserable today with over two dozen bites! They were really bad here. Will come back and do this in the morning...with bug spray. We only ran into one other couple the entire 7 mile hike! It was nice and quiet.

Great hike! Steady inclines, good workout. Beautiful views! Climb the hill and walk along the river. Toasty out today!

Great hike, first one of the year! Happened to be on the same day of a local run... helped mark the trail!

One of my favorite hikes. Really easy to get to. When the creek bed is dry it’s a blast to walk through, just watch your feet!

Great place to watch birds and breath fresh air

Great hike today! The weather was nice and the sun was out finally! The creek is still pretty high so no walking down in the creek bed yet. Hopefully next month it will dry out.

Beautiful view with wildflowers. Creek was still a little high but didn’t stop us on our adventure

McLellan Conservation Area is a 410 acre wildlife habitat with a few trail options to explore. The route uploaded to AllTrails mirrors the map posted at the trailhead and what the park provides online. There is another trail along the river as well as one inland a bit which shows up on some GPS devices. In addition to out and backs, a couple loops are possible. Some of the trails look as if they barely get any traffic. They are not worn down and can be hard to follow, covered by red pine needles. I visited on a Saturday in September, and there wasn't a soul to be found. With all the other trails closer to Spokane, this one seems to get fewer visitors, allowing for a feeling of solitude. North of the park is a curiously large swath of floating lilies that cover the entire bend in the river with green and yellow.

Nice trail. There is one spot where the map tells you to go through private property. If you follow the trail signs it brings you back around.

Well maintained single track with lots of wildlife and a beautiful sunset view from the top.

Beautiful, diverse trail. Deep Creek is currently unpassable due to water flow - cross on 7 Mile road. Tranquility was a bit marred by the sounds emanating from the ORV park, but the sights made up for it.

Great spring hike- saw white tail deer and lots of turkeys.

I did 8.18 miles today, did the loop and then a little more, I love this trail, saw so many deer & turkeys !!

This trail was awesome, a very good workout going up, but doable. The view from the top is vast and has a gorgeous lookout over the winding Spokane river.

Foggy with drizzle, tried doing the loop today. Deep Creek is flowing and uncrossable. Trails are compact ice and mud. Yaktrax or spikes a must

Love this hike try to do it once a year. great view at the top. Have seen birds, including turkeys, water mammals, butterflys and wildflowers.

Long but worth it. A lot of this is uphill with beautiful views.

Great hike. plan on having lunch at the top where there is a panoramic view of Spokane River.

There is a nice view at one point..... It's a very nice loop but there are a lot of turn-offs so pay close attention to the map.

This is one of the best loops in Riverside Park that DOESN'T follow the river closely. Though the river is arguably the best feature of the park, this trail manages to provide constant engagement and interest without interacting much with the water. The climbs, views and variation in landscape are quite captivating.

Sooo beautiful. Went in spring and early summer. Great views. If you want to get to the bridge quicker you park at the lot further from spokane.

Great 2.5 hr loop near town will be back

Great

Parking lot was packed so I figured trail would be high traffic. Turns out everyone goes there to kayak, the trail was completely empty. Plenty of shade, quiet, and an awesome view.

Didn't see a single person the hour I spent here. Some pretty neat views from some ridge points and in the dry river bed. Mostly followed the trail but wandered off here and there. Pretty easy hike, shoes were sandy with burrs after this trail, probably mostly from hiking the river bed and off the trail. Is right next to the road which was disappointing. Well maintained and clean though.

Despite several stretches where you aren't quite sure if you're on the right trail, this is a great hike. We used the WTA hike info for this one to make sure we didn't wander off track too much (I'll post the link below). The views from the high point of the trail are beautiful, and the rolling hills keep the trek from getting monotonous.

Loads of asphalt... pure asphalt. Not great for hikers... if you use some of the feeder trails, there are beautiful trails with canyons and great climbing spots to scout out, but a pretty lame hike, especially in the heat of the day. You'll just cook. However, river is beautiful. I would rate this easy. Nothing moderate about it except the heat aspect. Early or later in the day is much better. Great for bikes, strollers, wheelchairs and ATV's...
