Hiked on 7/3, trail is open but covered with snow and difficult to follow without using map. Would definitely suggest poles and waterproof boots. Beautiful views and would highly recommend!

This is a great hike overall! As of today, 1/2 mile past the first lookout there’s packed snow on the trail and you have to do a bit of trail finding. Trekking poles are helpful but you don’t need any other special gear. It was definitely hot and you should bring lots of water. The summit view was beyond incredible - Mt Rainier was a bit obscured by some clouds but that didn’t take away from an unreal 360 degree panorama!

I’d recommend doing in the afternoon after the clouds burn off. A few snow crossings up to cascade pass. We had poles and crampons but poles needed at minimum. Few dicey spots. Our research identified this as the #1 hikes in the park. Would have been 5 stars but the views were just so often blocked when we went. Not too buggy. There was a bear at the trailhead and we saw marmots and a giant banana slug.

Normally I love this hike. This is a beautiful hike when the snow gone but as of today (7/4) it is heavily packed and impassible without snow gear. Definitely needs more summer sun to melt the snow before we are able to hike it again. Tipsoo Lake is also covered with a lot of snow and barely visible. Bathrooms closed at Chinook Pass but open at Tipsoo Lake.

Did this trail today, kind of. We realized halfway up that we were following skiers footprints so we ended up at Pinnacle Glacier instead of Pinnacle Saddle. Everything covered in snow, but still doable with just hiking boots. Mount Rainier was covered in clouds, but sliding back down the snow was fun!

Great trail, heavily trafficked. Took us 3 hours to complete. It is steep all the way up! Tough leg workout. The view is totally worth it. Have to climb up ropes to get to the top. Ropes make the climb up easier. Enjoy!!!

First “official” weekend end open - after pony bridge, counted 15 trees down across the trail that requires climbing over or under - other than that, not many people after mile 5 and the area was quiet and peaceful

Hiked 7/4/2020. Lots of wildflowers along the way and a beautiful waterfall. However heavy fog rolled in during the steep descent so the lake was not visible when we arrived at the shoreline

Beautiful view!! Icy though and dangerous at a couple parts. I would not recommend Sunrise Lake nor Clover Lake for children or elderly until the ice melts.

Easily now one of my favorite hikes in Washington! It’s short, steep, grueling, yet exciting and fun with the ropes - and jaw-dropping (& kind of terrifying!) views! Afterwards, we hiked to the nearby waterfalls and just felt amazing. We will definitely be back again! Not for the faint of heart or with small children or dogs. Enjoy!
