Wanted to do this one again before October, but sadly the trail is closed until May 2019. Guess I’ll have to wait ‘til then...

Trail is currently closed

trail is off to the left upon arrival. Great trail, well maintained and very beautiful. kid friendly

Lots of FUN, Bring a flashlight!

This was so fun! It's a short hike up a trial that follows devils creek at the bottom of a canyon. There is a lovely waterfall on the outside back of the cave. If you want to climb the large rocks and hike behind the waterfall (we did), be very careful as it is very slippery. The inside of the cave is really cool, with devils creek running thru it. Stay on the path, don't walk in the water (no idea how deep it is, currents or rocks) and try not to touch anything due to microorganisms that live there. The whole hike including the cave was so beautiful.....bring your CAMERA!

Nice trail that has a loop through the bat colony cave. Did not see any bats!

Google sent us in from the West but the road is washed out. Come in from the East side. Paved roads the whole way.
Great maintained trail up the caves. As you start heading downhill you are almost there. Make sure to do the scramble to the waterfall over the logs and rocks to the back cave. Then head back and do the big cave which will lead you through the pitch black and back up to the main trail.

Don’t forget flash light and water friendly shoes :)

beautiful, challenging, saw a herd of mountain goats!

was a quick and easy hike. tool my 14 month old with on a pack, and she did great!

Great picnicking area and lots of parking and restrooms. Easy one mile hike, and fun trail that curves through the cave. Didn't see any bats. Make sure and have a flash light. Very neat cliffs, streams and walking trails. Fun/easy trail for kids.

Went with my girlfriend and her 8 yr old daughter well maintained easy hike

just went up there yesterday and it was closed :( so just a heads up but there's some trails up by swamp creek we went to.

It was an easy hike to the waterfall, we backpacked our 2 year old son. The cave was awesome (you definitely need a good flashlight, your phone light doesn’t work very well). The waterfall was too crowded for my personal liking, but was pretty. You do have to trek through some water, and over rocks, but nothing too bad, there’s rocks in the water to step on so you don’t get your shoes wet. Overall, it was a fun short hike, we will probably go again, and take our 7 year old with this time. ( Forgot to review last summer )

I'd say the first two miles are Moderate as the trails are identifiable and in decent shape. After that it's a crap shoot of being able to even find the trail, let alone being able to scramble up it. Lots of loose rock and scree as the author notes, which could be fun if you're looking for an adventure. A HARD adventure.

Great climb/hike. Go in the fall. Less traffic (rock fall in gully from other partys) . Easy climb. Great view of Rimrick Lake and Divide Ridge..

Easy short hike to a great view. The road to trailhead is very wash boardy but gets you up high before you start to hike.

Super easy hike. Pet friendly. Not too hard on the knees. Cave was small and not too scary. Didn't see any bats. Views to cave are amazing! Signs with history and a great plus!

This is not moderate in my book. Lots of loose, sliding shale. Trail is definitely NOT moderately trafficked. You are on your own, unless rattlesnakes count. This is for dedicated backwoods hikers who like a little more challenging terrain. Discover pass required.

This was an AWESOME experience!
Hike isn't too bad my 3 year old twins love it. Make sure you wear comfortable sturdy shoes that you don't mine getting wet, if you want to see the water fall.

Great hike with a few steep parts, such as the climb out of the caves. The Kiddos will get a kick out of the caves

I hike this every year atleast twice. It's a great, short trail for people with kids or people that aren't avid hikers and need to start slowly to get in hiking shape. :) I'd definitely recommend going mid week in the a.m. to beat the crowds and the heat. There is a nice day use picnic area and a place for you to dip your toes in the river after the hike if you desire. If you do bring your kiddos, PLEASE read the interpretive signs along the way that caution about cleaning your shoes upon entering and leaving the cave, not shouting in the cave or pointing your flashlight up, and staying on trail. This area has been shut down before because people didn't observe these basic rules and trail etiquette.

Trail is in good shape with short sections of rock, sand and blown down trees. Amazing lake and worth the effort. Starts out on sandridge trail which is a good climb. Trail levels out and is easier after the first 2.5 miles. Awesome day!

My kids loved this hike and the cave was great. They really liked the waterfall and the pool it created.

This was an absolutely beautiful trail. During the summer time there are a huge amount of flowers blooming like lupines, asters, penstemons, colombines, and rhododendrons. The view is amazing when the skies are clear. Even though I am very athletic this trail was difficult, if you don't hike or run very often I would not do this trail. Where there are no trees the wind is violent. Some areas the gravel is lose (so watch you step), I almost fell down the side of a steep part of the trail.
