All of you guys are such wimps. You can access big rock from the road that goes up to skagit highlands from the big rock grocery roundabout area. YOU WILL NOT PASS ANY NO TRESPASSING SIGNS HERE. As long as you avoid the trail that leads straight from division to big rock it's chill. There were a few scattered remains of homeless camps on he way up this trail. Also this area has been recently damaged by the fire so use caution on this trail as it's on the steep side and the burnt dirt and logs are quite unstable. I haven't hiked this recently but it was in the last 3 months. Trail is good, until they put no trespassing signs up in gonna access it from here.

It's a beautiful area. Paths are nice and easy to walk. Good bird watching.

Beautiful walk with our dogs, easy to find and worth walking to the very end for the beautiful views of Camano Island and Whidbey!

great place to walk

Hi, can anyone give me more information about how i could be able to drive my jeep on off road trails. Because i heart that i have to take a test first, before goig there, is that true?

This trail shouldn’t even be listed in the app. Private property and no trespassing signs posted at the trail entrance.

Took my 4 year old grandson easy hike in dikes in wet land area wide variety of birds and ducks close enough for easy viewing with or without binoculars good for photos

I have lived in Skagit County all my life and this is one of my most used trails. Really good for me since I don’t drive and hate walking on roads that are busy.

Great place for built 4x4. There is staging area, bathrooms, Discovery Pass Required.
There are couple gates with rocks on the side which is used to check if your vehicle is good to go. If you make it around gates then you should be alright. Some Trails can get tough, but others are fine. I would suggest lift, rear lockers at the least, but have seen stock xj up there. Also be prepared to get scratchs and or dents, I would rate this medium to high for levels.
And like someone else said, dont know why it says hiking , its a orv park.
I wish i had pics still on phone but dont, love this place in fall or spring, wet and muddy.

This is actually not a hiking trail at all as the post suggests. Rather it is an OHV park. Yes you can hike it which I did since I ride dirtbikes and wanted to scout it out since I was already there, but if your hiking for the views and scenery, go somewhere else.

The trail is now closed and a fairly new sign and gate with "NO PARKING. PRIVATE PROPERTY. NO TRESPASSING. NOT PUBLIC ACCESS TO BIG ROCK." posted on it. Call me a wuss, but I don't particularly wanna get shot trespassing on someone's land. Super bummed about this

We drove here interested in some 4x4 Jeep trails after reading elsewhere that those could be found here. Unfortunately all offsets from the main road are gated off and the main road is VERY easy riding. Lots of dirt bike and ATV trails to be explored, but nothing for a Jeep.

Normally a good place to learn 4x4 driving- HOWEVER as of June 20, 2015 the jeep trails are closed for logging. They don't have an estimated reopening posted... found this out the hard way after driving there this weekend...

Since this is primarily an ORV trail, I do not recommend it for hiking on the weekends or holidays. However, during the week it is fine. Two dirt bike riders arrived as we did, but we never saw or even heard them again until we were almost back to the trail head. We ran into one other hiker with her dog. She said they come out all the time and seldom see anyone. There are many interconnecting trails weaving through an awesome forest area so you can do as much or as little as you want.

We parked on the side of hwy 9 and took the path across the street. It was short, about 1 mile, decent incline. You kind of have to rock climb to get to the top, but nothing too difficult. It got the blood pumping. It was pretty, you can see almost 360*

spent two hours trying to find the hiking trailhead. the ORV dominates this. found mountain biking trails, again nothing for just hiking.

hidden gem

Big Rock has 2 approaches. One a very gradual trail and the other shorter more inclined trail. Big Rock also has a couple short bolted routes for climbing. An easy hike for kids and people with bad backs.

The previous review is lacking a bit.Walker Valley is actually a state ORV park which means it's mostly motorized use but Mtn. bikes are more than welcome. There is actually well over 30mi. of some of the most awesome trails in Wa. state.
