I found two clear cuts coming from the Lake Sylvia side. Not a bad trail but nothing really interesting about it either.

I’m giving five stars because I finished it. Oh my butt kicker.

Very relentless hike up the whole way. Got towards the top where the ridge loop is and we were hearing really strange noises that freaked out our daughter. Turned around right before the end. Thought downhill would be easier but very tiring. 5 hours total with lots of stopping to rest. Would rate this hard not a moderate hike.

Wonderful little trail.

A challenging hike indeed. I loved the water flowing down the mountain at the beginning part of the trail and got some pretty good shots. The views at the top were obstructed but it was such a peaceful and wonderful hike.

I liked the workout, but the trail was ugly from all the recent logging.

Large piece of trail destroyed by active logging last week.

deep snow towards the top but an adventure forsure!

Roads were snowy. Trail had slush so going down decline was tricky.

Amazing hike! We went on 2/18 and the weather was sunny with a little snow. The river is beautiful and the copper mines are pretty awesome. Make sure to bring strong flashlights and extra batteries if you want to explore them. The hike up is all incline and beautiful along the way. There snow was deep and icy towards the top so bring hiking poles. The trail was closed, and for good reason, where it leaves the river to go up to the ridge. We will definitely be back in late spring to see the views from the ridge.

Beautiful today -nice drive. Easy stroll to the Falls. It was running fast with all the snow melting.

This is an excellent hike if you like roaring streams, old-growth forests and don't mind some relentless grade. The great views are not panorama, but places to stop and look at a gorgeous roaring stream that is dropping over 2,300 feet in less than 2.5 miles. The forest and the stream are both unspoiled, and the payoff view is beautiful. My daughter and I walked the entire loop in about 4.5 hours and thoroughly enjoyed it (in January!). We only had short stretches with about 2" of snow. It's an absolute treasure.

road and trail in great condition. falls were full and beautiful. Worth a Sunday drive in the rain. short hike that anyone could pass.

A good amount of elevation gain and the trail was in good shape.

Absolutely beautiful hike in the Olympics. A few creek crossing in the first .02 miles. After that it's up hill with switch backs to the top. Not recommended for kids under 10.

The shortest route the app suggests (coming from Kingston ferry) is gated and padlocked in the middle of June. 5' tall grass on the closed side of gate. Maybe try the longer way or bag this altogether.

The waterfall looks awesome with all the snow melt and rain runoff. It was actually shooting back up into the air.

The trail from Staircase to Upper Duckabush camp was in great condition, but the climb up from the Duc to Marmot Lk had several down trees to get over/around. Water was available everywhere, even in this dry year (Sept 2016). No bugs. Side trip or alternate destination of Hart Lake is well worth it.

Pretty intense incline, there were a couple of cool caves to check out in the way up!

gotta say, this one was my first WA hike. impressive, quite hike. real steep and not any problems. going down being on a serious incline was hard on the toes. it's true, 4 hrs and 30 min it took us. liked it that the wife and i went up again and brought my boys. well, needless to say, they kicked butt and breeze to it.

This is a quick hike downhill to the cutest little falls at the end! We packed a lunch and ate at the bottom. It's a great little swimming (wading) pool at the bottom too. Definitely off the beaten path! Make sure your gas tank is full before driving out to this one. ;)

6.73 miles in 4 1/2 hours. The only clear view is on the ridge line trail and it is of the backside of the mountain... gorgeous but I was really hoping for a unobstructed view of all around! it's a killer going up and down! but a good hike to test out your stamina!

It was a great hike and we had a good time didn't make the lake because the forge was too deep and the water was very cold and running pretty fast for a safe crossing.
We plan on going back later in the year when the water is down the weather is warmer
The trail was ok but definitely primitive

Up hill indeed. Great scenery the entire time. Wife and I did it in the rain and it was still awesome. Will head back again and cross the creek to explore the copper mine itself. Very fun and worth doing it over the lower and easier lake side hikes.
