There are two loops, 1.5 and 2.8 miles, and we hiked both. Trails wind up and down through old growth and new. Small and large bridges cross the lake, river, and creeks. Don’t miss the covered hiking bridge on the smaller loop. We met three nice dogs on leashes. Their owners were well-behaved.

They have the trails well marked at the moment which is nice. Hopefully no one moves the markers this time

We did the Brownie trail and then came back around to the lake. it was about 4.5 miles total. The first part of the hike was very steep but then it flattened out at the top. Great hike! There are much longer hikes here for those who want more.

A challenging hike indeed. I loved the water flowing down the mountain at the beginning part of the trail and got some pretty good shots. The views at the top were obstructed but it was such a peaceful and wonderful hike.

I liked the workout, but the trail was ugly from all the recent logging.

April 29th, great hike, weather was good, about half way through started raining a little. beautiful creeks, trees and trail.

Perfect hike for a family just very muddy this time of year as to be expected.

deep snow towards the top but an adventure forsure!

Amazing hike! We went on 2/18 and the weather was sunny with a little snow. The river is beautiful and the copper mines are pretty awesome. Make sure to bring strong flashlights and extra batteries if you want to explore them. The hike up is all incline and beautiful along the way. There snow was deep and icy towards the top so bring hiking poles. The trail was closed, and for good reason, where it leaves the river to go up to the ridge. We will definitely be back in late spring to see the views from the ridge.

Nice local hike for my family getting ready for backpacking this summer. Don't forget your discovery pass or 10 dollars for the fee area.

This is an excellent hike if you like roaring streams, old-growth forests and don't mind some relentless grade. The great views are not panorama, but places to stop and look at a gorgeous roaring stream that is dropping over 2,300 feet in less than 2.5 miles. The forest and the stream are both unspoiled, and the payoff view is beautiful. My daughter and I walked the entire loop in about 4.5 hours and thoroughly enjoyed it (in January!). We only had short stretches with about 2" of snow. It's an absolute treasure.

Went last weekend. Beautiful & peaceful place. Several very muddy spots but that's to be expected this time of year. Will definitely go again!

Absolutely beautiful hike in the Olympics. A few creek crossing in the first .02 miles. After that it's up hill with switch backs to the top. Not recommended for kids under 10.

The trail from Staircase to Upper Duckabush camp was in great condition, but the climb up from the Duc to Marmot Lk had several down trees to get over/around. Water was available everywhere, even in this dry year (Sept 2016). No bugs. Side trip or alternate destination of Hart Lake is well worth it.

gotta say, this one was my first WA hike. impressive, quite hike. real steep and not any problems. going down being on a serious incline was hard on the toes. it's true, 4 hrs and 30 min it took us. liked it that the wife and i went up again and brought my boys. well, needless to say, they kicked butt and breeze to it.

Good hiking trail for small kids and dogs. Lots of cool little bridges including a covered one. Roughly 2.3 miles round trip from Lake Sylvia State Park campground. We have done the trail in the winter too and it looks totally different with frost, snow and ice.

Nice hike, great overnight stay in the campground. I have MS and CHF so I had to take the uphill portions of the trail slow, but I did it! Would be slick in rainy weather. Campgrounds were quiet and well kept. Clean facilities include showers. Canoe was tied up right at the site.

6.73 miles in 4 1/2 hours. The only clear view is on the ridge line trail and it is of the backside of the mountain... gorgeous but I was really hoping for a unobstructed view of all around! it's a killer going up and down! but a good hike to test out your stamina!
