Starts with old hot springs area (now cold) then onto beautiful forest meets meadow areas. Lots of markers identifying trees and plants. Easy 1/2 hour hike. Great for a rainy day.

Absolutely spectacular trek thru labor day weekend. Completed in 5 days started from Longmire and went clockwise. 3 separate bear encounters all within Spray Park; they were minding their own business. bugs weren't too bad either which was a pleasant surprise. Rained one day and spent a couple days hiking thru a marine fog layer. Other days were sunny and gorgeous!

Very challenging loop and a great hike when you are short for time or just want a trail that’s not packed in the summer months. I also recommend arriving early to get parking at Longmire Lodge. Mostly assent and descent through shaded forest with a couple really great wide open views up at the top.

Oh man. We used to live in WA but were merely visiting and decided to head to Rainier for a hike. It was September and yoga pants and a hoodie isn’t enough. I stupidly didn’t anticipate snow still being on the ground. We warmed up as we moved. Beautiful hike with quite a bit of foot traffic, well marked, and quite a bit of park personnel floating around to guide you.

8/18 - nice hike and view of Rainer. Pay attention to where you leave the “dirt road” to the more traditional hiking trail as it’s easy to miss. All Trails really helped! Rainer is stunning; I think there are prettier parts of the mountain (e.g. near Mowich Lake or Indian Bar). This is beautiful; I’d just recommend other parts more! I did this one way and then continued on to Longmire via Wonderland Trail. It requires two cars, but allows you to see more of the park!

Lots of switch backs on the way up. I would say this is a hard hike and not so much a moderate.

Beautiful trail!! I attempted this loop in 5 days. Only able complete 53miles of this hike. Very difficult climbs and trail is not very well graded. Recommend 6 to 7 days to complete this hike.

One of the best hikes I have done in a while. The hike is a challenge, but the views are rewarding! Went clockwise. Finished the trail in 7 days. Started at Longmire. Day 1 Klapatche, Day 2 Mowich Lake, Day 3 Carbon River, Day 4 Sunrise, Day 5 Indian Bar, Day 6 Maplecreek and Day 7 finished back at Longmire and enjoyed a cheeseburger w/fries. Little to no snow at Panhandle Gap during our trip (8/10/19 - 8/16/19)...lots of flowers, and wildlife. The bugs weren't bad--only at Maplecreek. Trekking Poles are highly recommended...your knees will thank you!

Ran it in just shy of 48 hours after taking a few hour long naps on the trail. Beautiful trail - everything above 5k ft is amazing. Lots of climbs, a bit overgrown in parts, footing is fairly technical. A gem of the northwest.

Very challenging 3/4 mile to the top, but worth every step for the view.

This hike was amazing, but grueling. Be prepared for a few stretches of steep switchbacks, and then other stretches of moderated incline. The trail is mostly a climb up, and I wouldn’t recommend if you don’t have good boots or have done a long hike before. But what’s your up there, the scenery is unbelievable. It almost feels like a fairy tail as you go through the alpine meadow. The day brought clouds for us, and it created a misty vibe as we were ascending. Then once at the top, the fog lifted to unbelievable views of Mt. Rainier as the backdrop to the cabin. Great diversity of scenery, and and unbelievable workout. 5/5, would recommend for those with the desire for a long trek.

From the WTA site for the start of this hike to get to Gobblers Knob. "8/9/2019 - Road closed: The Westside Road is closed to all travel (including hiking and biking) until further notice due to overnight debris flows and potential for further activity in the near future"
