This is a really nice, really hard hike. I did it as a day hike on a Sunday in mid-June. Snow was almost entirely melted. Only 4 other groups on the trail that day. I would have gotten completely lost without the All trails app GPS. I would not recommend this trail without the app, it is very hard to follow the trail. The view at the summit is absolutely gorgeous, as are the lakes. No airplanes over this valley, so it was absolutely bereft of human noise, glorious. I'm in decent shape and it took me 9 hours and felt incredibly exhausted at the end. There is a 1000 ft up in 1/4 mile at one point, which is truly demoralizing, but amazing to complete. I think this would be best as an in one day, out the next trail, it felt a little too much for a truly enjoyable day hike. Plus its so gorgeous by the lakes, its worth having time to explore them.
