moderate hike worth the view at the top.
hiked it with my kids on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't very busy (must have been a perfect time to go).
5 year old daughter did the trail easy up and back.
8 year old son complained the whole way (but he complains about everything).
spent time by the water after watching some hawks fish, one of them caught one. it was cool.

The hike to Waptus lake isn't bad. The trail from Waptus to Spade is straight up the mountain. Roughly 5 miles. The only water is towards the end of the trail. Bring lots of water and snacks.

Trails are not marked very well, the were well maintained a bit muddy in some parts but had a wonderful time. Will definitely recommend to other people.

I don't think I can count the number of times I've actually been to this park, I feel like it exceeds 10, 000, perfect nice easy walk for elderly and kids and strollers if this is too easy for you just Veer off the path into the hills and woods or the monument to the original Western State Hospital, Dog park, drone flying Zone, playground and fields of plenty. I hope nothing ever makes this place go away!

worth the trip down to the lake once you've "gotten to the top".

Relatively flat and easy for trail running. Great for beginners and those who just want to take it easy. Awesome views and lots of spots for cooling off after running in the heat!

effort but not difficult, so don’t expect a challenge but it’s not a cakewalk either. incredibly scenic. views of mt. ranier, but go clockwise in order to not be walking away from it. bugs not as bad as the other reviewers seem to suggest. 5/5

If you park at the fish park entrance there is a wonderful long, winding boardwalk that would accomodate strollers and wheel chairs. It is a lovely meandering walk through the trees. It would be a great place to bring the littles.

Nice climb up to a decent view. A popular place! Parking was okay, but the trail and viewpoint was crowded. Lots of dogs which partly made up for the lots of people. Still, a nice, moderate hike not far from the city.

This was a nice island hike. A few good views and a nice walk along Mountain Lake at the end. Roads go to the top of the mountain that you work so hard to get to, with the associated crowds.

Started hike around 11am, still a bit hazy from the regional wildfires, but overall good visibility. If you havent hiked in a while be patient with yourself and the trail, there are some decent elevation gains. Once you reach the split, stay left to continue on the YAB.

awesome hike ... early part no shade so a little exposed but latter half gets really deep into the forests .... the lake itself is on you all of a sudden so hidden it is ..... not much of a place to hang out but well worth it .... the return trip is at least 40 % faster !!

The trail along the creek is flat out missing in places (appears to have been reclaimed by the creek) and very poorly maintained in other places, to the point of being flat out dangerous. I do not recommend except for the most seasoned hikers.

Great hike. Gorgeous views!!

We did the loop and the only negative I found was having to walk along the street to get back to our car and that is why I gave it 4 stars instead w 5.

Great hike, but be prepared to sweat a lot. First part is mostly climbing, so take lots of water. Great views couple miles into the hike. I had cell service the entire time which made it really easy to listen to Pandora :).. Have fun and stay safe.

Awesome lake, this trail can be rough if you're backpacking it. The last mile and a half can be confusing but someone made rock towers to follow which makes it easier.

Awesome trail, but try to avoid it on weekends. It is literally the interstate of hikes.

This trail absolutely destroyed my legs, went camping for 2 nights, Gorgeous scenery, but do not let the "light scrambles" confuse you. There were some parts where I should have hiked in a ladder. All in all the hike is beautiful but a very very strenuous all uphill/rock climbing hike

mosquitoes mosquitoes. Other than that beautiful, did I say mosquitoes!

Awesome view good work out!

Very easy trail. It had little elevation, but it was still a nice walk/hike. The lake is absolutely beautiful. Would do again.

I did this hike on July 23, 2018. It was a little hot but beautiful sunny skies. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been is Blue Lake and I’ve been hiking all summer in many national parks. This took me about 3 hours with a lunch break. Definitely a moderate hike for the average hiker. Don’t miss this hike!

It was an easy hike, my 6 yrs. old son didn’t complain at all. It is a 1.5 miles from Lake Crescent Lodge. Old trees are beautiful. Thumbs up for those that worked hard to maintain the trails. Five star all in all.

nice hike. I'm from Utah so the himidity was rough for me and the stairs are a great workout. I loved the wild blackberries on the trail.

Amazing, had such a good time
