Amazing hike with stunning views

Such an amazing reward for such an easy hike! My family and I went later in the day towards sunset and there were lots and lots of bugs/flys so come prepared with bug spray!! Or hike Heather Lake earlier in the day. Enjoy!

great hike, very short but so beautiful. a great one for kids!!

Pretty decent trail with some variety. Some parts are wide and well graveled, and others are much more natural. There's a huge downed tree you walk across to get to the other side of the river at one point which is neat. There are some truly spectacular views, especially if you push past Monte Cristo and go farther up the mountain. I would call this a beginner to intermediate trail. I started at 1:30pm and got back to my car around 7:30pm. Make sure to leave anything that's not a necessity at home and lock your car.

the most beautiful hike I have ever done!

First time hiking Lake 22. Stunning lake views. Photos don’t do it justice. Trail was busy today. I definitely say it’s pushing hard on some spots where you hit the trail in the open. Pretty rocky most of the trail. Hiking poles are very helpful. When you get to the lake. Head right and walk up a bit. Less people and good spots to have lunch.

Great hike. I wouldn’t recommend it for little kids though. Heather lake is a nice alternative for the little kids.

Low effort for big lake reward. Make sure you jump into the lake, it’s so refreshing.

Great hike for Fathers Day. Well maintained trail, but definitely well trafficked. We took our dog, all other dogs where on leashes. Took us just over an hour, round trip. Highly recommend!

Access road is closed at the Heather Lake trailhead. This adds an additional 4-5 miles to get to the trailhead.

Giving 4 stars because we didn't even attempt it so why screw with the ratings. Heather Lake was a nice detour.

Absolutely loved this trail. I went up there today, and there was still plenty of snow around the lake. A great hike filled with waterfalls and wonderful scenery. I would suggest getting there early or else parking can be a hassle. Would definitely go again.

Nothing to see on the trail, a lot of rocks on the road, not too much to see at the end of the trail. Not recommended.

This hike is worth the trip. It’s rocky and has some challenges but not too bad. There is snow on the ground as you get near the lake. The view is amazing and you have to see it with your own eyes.

Awesome! Perfect. More signs would be cool. Amazing hike.

Hiked up to the lake early morning ( 6:00am ). Slight drizzle thru-out the hike. Trail was a little muddy, with some water running over it at times. The lake is about half frozen, with snow around it on the trail. On way back down 8:00am) the crowds were coming up.

Came here twice, once in February and then for Mother's day. A beautiful hike with some views and lake. I'll definitely come here again. VERY POPULAR hike so get here early otherwise you're having to find parking at a nearby park or on the highway. The parking lot was extremely full to the entrance by 0900!

Unbelievably beautiful, rugged and romantic!! Lots of roots, mud and hiking over creeks, a waterfall and snow- but the end result was so gorgeous and worthwhile. The rain made everything even more memorable. I highly recommend this hike for anyone who is up for a wilderness adventure.

I've been hiking this one since high school. Always a great one to come back to!

Beautiful hike past some nice waterfalls, few people on a weekday morning. Poles came in handy. Lake is only part frozen as of June 5th but plenty snow on the loop trail around the lake. Didn't complete the loop and came back as the melting snow didn't seem.like it would hold me up anymore. Don't miss the lookouta on the falls

I did a winter hike a few months ago and it was amazing. Simply stunning! Definitely want to have walking poles if you're hiking in the snow.

Did this 6/4 (Monday morning) High reward for low impact hike! Soooooo beautiful... rained when we were up there and just made it that much more beautiful!! The water was so clear! Definitely again in the summer !

Amazing trail! There was so much to see on the way up-- waterfalls, creeks, mountain views, etc... all of it is clear (except some mud and water) until you reach the lake, there is still snow. The only somewhat challenging part of the hike is the very uneven terrain (a lot of rocks and roots) Good shoes are a must! Go at your own pace and you'll be able to reach the top!

I noticed so many people leaving their dogs poop or bags behind. This will eventually lead to dogs not being allowed on trails. I ALWAYS hike the bags out. Bring bags, double bag it, stick it in a ziploc, etc... DONT LEAVE IT. My dogs love coming on hikes with me and it would be a shame if I could no longer bring them because others are so irresponsible. Take your trash with you too....You hiked it in, you can hike it out when it's empty.

Frozen lake was really impressive. Try to go in winter and summer time, both are really different experience.

Oh my goodness! First time on the hike today with my boyfriend and we had such a good time! It’s a good work out for sure. Saw lots of people with hiking sticks too which probably would have been helpful. Lots of rocks and some are a little loose so be careful! There is a bunch of snow at the top which is awesome :) can’t wait to climb this again

A very enjoyable hike that I would recommend to anyone. One thing to note is that there is ALOT of people on the trail and I saw some dog poop bags along the way. Please make sure you hike your dogs poop out or dont bring your dog at all.

As for current conditions, there are snow at the last 5 minutes of the trail leading up to the lake. Nothing too crazy that warrants crampons or ice axe.

Tha lake was amazing. The photos do not give it enough credit. There is a part of the hike where it is very rocky, hiking boots are a must. Get there early to avoid the crowds and the hotter temperatures.

I love this trail for what it is, kid friendly, easy,
close to home, and beautiful. This is far from my favorite hike but it’s a fun place to explore when I’m with my toddler or limited on time. LOVE how much parking is available here.

First time I have hiked to the snow. The lake was impressive
