Great trail, Some large rocks could be hard for small hikers.

I'm not a hiker that has been hiking every weekend, and I have weak knees. This was a stretch, and I chose to go on to the 3rd falls. I'm so happy I did, because the falls were absolutely amazing!

A beautiful place! Very little elevation. Beautiful views of the lake and surrounding forest. Trail keeps to the lake. We had a great clear day with a slight breeze which kept away any mosquitos. Would highly recommend to others.

Great hike but be warned there's tons of mosquitos-just bring bug spray and you'll be fine. The waterfall and view of Mt. Rainer was well worth the hike which was flat until you reached the incline to the waterfall (maybe a mile of moderate climb). Once at the American River you can 1) forge through the river ( max 4' deep) or follow the river down about 100 yards to cross the at a log jam. Our dog did this great!

Really pretty waterfall! You can also hike to the top of .

Not a little kid trail (unsafe rocks to climb over multiple times) but great for adults n teens. Based on this being first hike since teenage, not being in shape, and having hip problems still managed to hike 1 mile in to center of lake.. :)
Gorgeous views

Enjoyed this trail so much, however we were only able to make it about halfway before turning back because it was getting dark. Our GPS did not take us correctly to the trailhead, so we had to figure out some turns. If yours does the same, just know you do not have to turn off on any dirt roads. It is paved until just after you cross next to the lake, where it turns to gravel. The drive (if you go the correct way) was very easy and could be done without 4x4.

The trail is a very even walk with some slight inclines/declines. The path was well maintained, except for a few spots where we climbed over fallen trees. We had 2 adults, 2 dogs and a baby in a backpack carrier.

Now, the drive up and the scenery itself were incredible. We went on 6/2/18, the weather was a beautiful 70 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze. There were very few bugs, and we didn’t see a single other person on this trail.

We’re excited to go back and do the whole thing!

Beautiful views along the lake looking toward Nelson Ridge. Some nice old growth once you get into the woods.

Very pretty along the lake and then it's into a long stretch of forest with a few very large old growth trees.

Easy flat hike along bumping lake. Trail is longer than 4.9 miles. There are many spots along the trail to sit and have a nice lunch overlooking the lake. Overall if you're looking for a relaxing hike than this is it.

My wife and I loved this trail. We only went about 3 miles in but we loved it. 3 major waterfalls that are downright gorgeous. We went on a Monday and had the trail to ourselves. After crossing the stream at the beginning, the next mile or so is steep switch backs and quite a climb. Will give you a workout. The rest of the hike was a very comfortable slope. Beautiful stands of pine, spruce and cedars stand over creeping Oregon grape, moss, huckleberry under stories. Trail is well maintained. The person who gave it 3 stars unfairly needs to realize that the best parts of the trail came after the steep beginning where they gave up and turned back.

Wonderful hike with some amazing views, bugled with a couple bull elk on the way up to swamp lake, took us 5hrs to hike in, found a great camp on the big cougar lake overlooking the beach, elk bugled from 8pm to 5am, was a great night! Took a short three hour hike Sunday morning up into the bowl above the lakes got some great views and could even see a little portion of bumping lake way in the background from up there. Was a 4hr hike out and only seen one other person at cougar lake and he was on horseback having lunch then riding back out, we were the only ones up there for the night, one of the most beautiful places I have been for sure!

Loved this hike. Started off with some steeper switch backs and then leveled out a little bit more, amazing waterfall within the first 10 min of the hike. The next few miles are slight up and downs with amazing views, when you get about 3 miles in you hit another amazing private waterfall. Wish we could have kept going to the end but we only made it about 4 miles in. We don't hike very often and I didn't think it was that hard. The hardest part was the switch backs in the very beginning.

Great trail with wonderful views, the first 30 minutes is covered with downfalls and several times you have to leave the trail to make it around, but once you get past the down falls it is a great trail with spectacular views all the way.

This is an amazing trial that is much longer than most reviews. We started from Swamp Lake Trail (970) and then we took trail 958 towards the lake, it becomes 958a shortly after. It took 4hrs to get to the Cougar Lakes. There is some nice spots for camping. We stayed 2 nights and during that time we saw a few more campers and hikers. Also on the Ridge we saw some elk, this was in the month of July.

We hiked Crow Lake Trail intending to pass by Fifes Peak (5800 ft) and stop at Sheepherder Lake (4 miles or so before Crow Creek Lake.) The trail has been washed out pretty bad for the first 1/4 mile. It requires some careful walking next to the almost 13 foot trenches where the trail used to be. The trail continues on the left when the trenches stop and only a few blown over trees remain. The hike was pretty steep but gradual. This being a horse trail, it was well carved out and marked. Had such a great time staying the night at Sheepherder (4800 ft), I'll definitely be going back and making it to Crow Lake. All in all, we got some awesome pictures of the scenery that made for some great memories. Be safe, take your time and happy hiking y'all.
