Great trail, the falls are definitely a must on the way to the lake. It didn't feel as though as we thought it would be. It was crazy busy so that kinda took away from the magic.

Very beautiful, with at least three great overlooks to accommodate different difficulty levels. I would call this overall Moderate, not Easy, but our group (and dog) had no problems getting to the Middle Falls. The final 1km Upper Falls stretch is marked Hard.

Pretty good hike. Got more tired towards the upper falls. Wasn’t expecting it to be as steep. But overall a great hike. Went in the morning to avoid crowds and was pleasant. Though noticed a few people with dogs off leash which was not awesome. For that reason I wouldn’t be able to bring my dog next time I hike this trail.

trail is great, we'll maintained. more moderate than easy. really pretty woods and falls. weekends are packed, and there were some dog owners with their dogs off leash (and not well behaved) which was not great. would go back, but would be more careful on timing to avoid the crowds.

Fantastic trail! the falls is a quick and easy trip and you should definitely make the side 0.5mile visit. catch it in the fog and be ready for amazing pictures.
the lake requires much more work, not hard but persistent elevation gain through a mostly well kept trail with wide-breasted stairs throughout. plenty of things to look at along the way not just boring dirt. the lake itself was clouded out for me but still awesome to be up there.

Oct. 6, 2018: Decided to come here for a quick hike with a view!! Fewer people in the afternoon-sun down. Worth it!

Hiked with 5 meetupers from Hiking with Dorks. 5.4 miles rated moderate. Trail well marked. Middle Falls most spectacular

Many views of the waterfall! So so so pretty! Went midweek and it was pretty quiet and easy to find parking. Discovery pass was needed.

Nice fall hike. Oct 7. Hiked to Bridal Falls then to lake Serene. Total mileage is about 8.4 miles. Started at 1115am, was in my car at 315pm. With maybe 25min spent at the falls and 25 min at the lake.

Very nice

2018/09/30 Sunday (Hiking Date). Enjoyed the hike. Pretty good work out. Very good views of Water falls and Wallace River. Trail path is neat and well marked. Has parking lot (Discovery Pass Required) and well maintained rest rooms. It took around 4 hours to Upper falls (out and back). Traffic on US-2 Highway. Definitely go there again.

Went on a Saturday, I would not recommend going on the weekend. Very, very busy on the trail. Not the hike to do for solitude. The higher you went the less people there were, but still had to bob and weave your way up.

However, the trail was well maintained, we were never concerned about getting lost. Lots of places to take a rest and pretty diverse trail. Also a great workout.

We went on a slow day, and the trail was moderately trafficked. The trailhead had a volunteer who gave us helpful hints and a map. Discovery pass required here. Absolutely beautiful views!! The trails are very well marked and there are options for all different experienced hikers. Varied path so it stays interesting! Can't wait to go back!!

Hiked Oct 2017, strenuous and totally worth it. Really enjoyed this one. Don’t go chasing waterfalls, get to the lake first and then stop by the falls on the way down. We wasted way too much time at Bridal falls

First rainy hike since moving to the PNW a few months ago. Went to Lake Serene and skipped the falls. I would rate this trail as more moderate, it's steadily uphill but not technical at all with well a manicured trail and well positioned rocks for your climbing needs. The lake was beautiful even in the rain and you pass a few smaller waterfalls on the way up.

Beautiful trails along river and streams with falls at checkpoints. Diverse trail keeps it interesting. Hike gains difficulty with distance due to elevation so it feels more moderate than easy. My favorite close to home hike but a very busy destination.

Didn’t make it to the falls, yet enjoyed the 3 mile hike, great one to start after two years away. Beautiful colors super scenic. Dog friendly, easy access from Salmon le Sac campground.

Very well maintained trail with beautiful waterfalls.

Trail starts out pretty level and easy but quickly turns to rocks and stairs after the falls. We left the lot at 2pm and arrived at the top to see that the sun was behind the mountains and the lake entirely shaded. Plan to come back at sunrise to photograph the lake with sun. Super great hike

Loved this hike! Probably one of my favorites in Washington so far. Got to the trailhead at 1030 on a Tuesday & the lot was only a quarter full.
It’s rated as hard for a reason, all up hill, but oh so worth it! Be sure to wear shoes with great grip because the entire trail is basically rocks covered in moss & moisture and the last .5 mile is muddy.
Can’t wait to go back in the winter to see this lake covered in snow!

Excellent trail! We were able to hike this after leaving Mount Baker on our way back to the Seattle airport. Rained all day in Bellingham Sunday so we needed one more hike before hearing back to hot, humid Atlanta !

Amazing hike, it should be on your list to do in Washington! There was a lot of amazing waterfalls, fallen trees, the mountains were breathtaking and Lake Serene was just gorgeous! I went on a rainy Sunday and it wasn’t very crowded, also it was easy to find parking (even if you go a little late).

We went there Labor Day a few days after the trail had reopened. Parking was abundant at 830 am. Trail was well maintained. Glad we stopped at Bridal Veil first otherwise I don’t think we would have stopped in the way down from Lake Serene. Both were very pretty breathtaking. Wonderful hike!

we went during the week in the evening so it wasnt very busy, only saw 2 other couples. there was so many amazing views along the way! the falls were absolutely breathtaking! we just went to the 2nd level since we ran out of daylight but definitely want to go back! id say moderate is fitting for this one:)

Great trail. The trail starts out really easy until you reach the fork either to Bridleveil or Lake Serene. Choose wisely.... actually the dynamic are close to the same except the falls is a way shorter hike. When you head up to the lake the incline increases and switchbacks and big stair steps for a while. Worth the sore legs afterwards. I went to Serene first then the falls on the way down. There is bathrooms at the trailhead and the lake. The lake is beyond gorgeous. Got there at 5am of course no cars. Got back down around 11:30am parking lot was packed.

Beautiful! I’ve done the bridal veil falls many times, I very excited to do the lake trail this time. It was worth it for how hard the incline of stairs was! The water has an amazing emerald bluish color. And we hung out there for a while. I totally recommend it! My discover pass didn’t cover this area, must be a northwest forest pass!

Great hike. The last two miles up to the lake are a challenge, steep and very rocky, but there's enough points along the trail with fantastic views to keep you motivated. The lake itself, and the towering cliffs behind it, are spectacular and very worth the effort. We started at 8am and still had quite a few people up top with not much room at all along the water, so if you want to find a place of your own to sit and eat lunch, be prepared for for a little disappointment and plenty of human interaction.

Make sure you allow time for the breaks you might need on the incline switchbacks and the break you will surely want when you get to the gorgeous lake. Lunch Rock was a perfect spot to drink your wine and eat your lunch while viewing the snow packs, trees and jagged rocks reflecting off the lake.

Hiked on 9/10/18.

I'm sure it's typically busy, but I went on a Thursday morning and basically had the whole trail to myself. Multiple view points along the way and they're all beautiful. The trail is extremely well maintained. I'll definitely be coming back here again.
