Beautiful the whole way through, with ideal length and difficulty for families with young children.

had a blast out there. bring bug spray!

Fun hike with friends. We took the longest route. Two ways to get to the falls. Left route goes farther and elevated but the view is breath taking. then it goes down to the falls, took pictures and trail back down to the parking area. such a fun hike with family or with friends. Dogs and kids are good for this hike:-)

Sooooooo awesome! You can take the stairs straight to the top and go behind and touch the falls or you can zig zag the trails up one side to the other!

Good trail, family friendly with stairs and hand rails. AMAZING view!!!

Very short, not too challenging but the view of the waterfall is amazing. Took about 30-40 min but I guess if you just wanted to picnic with a view it would be ok.

I always enjoy the constant gradual incline and various pullout spots for oncoming hikers, it’s great for getting the heart rate and cardio ready for the long summer hikes ahead. The bridges are rebuilt all the way around and a couple modifications added to some swift backs. I would be very cautious on windy days as the wildfires have compromised the integrity of the trees especially the left side of the loop.

lots and lots of stairs, almost the entire way to the top is along the falls with a short couple switchbacks to the right away from the falls for a few minutes beautiful canyon views and a long range peek at the top our kids are 7 and 10 and had no problem will come again for sure

Attempted the trail to Cougar Mtn in early Apr. Snow started at around the 2,800 ft level but snowshoes were not required until around 3,000 ft. Many trees impeded the progress. Not way to go around most, which meant that we had to go over them. Not easy with snowshoes and a pack. After 4 hrs of difficult hiking, we only covered 3.1 mi and 2,00 ft in elevation. There was no way to make it to the proposed camp area before dark at the rate we were going and the terrain was only getting steeper. This trail will be attempted again but after snow has cleared.

Wow! What a beautiful trail!! Loved it!!

Gorgeous area, trail was paved most of the way and cool by the water not to mention well shades. The topmost bridge was out so we couldnt do the the full loop. My 6 year old had an easy time of it.

An easy in and out hike. Started late in the afternoon so we ended up camping at "camp 9", or close to it. there is a quick jaunt up to a small spot with a fire pit (might be camp 9), but it didn't have much room for more than a couple of small tents. Ascend up a bit further and you will come to a much larger area that looks like an end point to a forest service road. Plenty of flat sandy spots to pitch tents without a chance of dead tree fall coming down, as it was windy up there. Make sure you water up if need be before the hike up to the site. there is a small stream with good water if using a filter or other method before the campsite. Beware of Rattlesnakes on the trail this time of year. Our group saw several. I would also advise against swimming in the Mad River this time of year as it was exceptionally angry!

The flowers are just starting to bloom. The snakes were out sunbathing. We saw 1 gartener snake and 1 diamond back both on the trail. The spring run off is very high. The weather was terrific though. May 5, 2017

LOVED this trail. It is a mild August day and my pup and I were out on our weekly adventure! When we first arrived and started it was raining but that did not stop us! Any trails that are next to waterfalls, rivers, creeks or lakes our are favorite, mainly the dog because he always has a place to swim, drink and cool down! I also enjoy taking off my shirt, dipping it the water and putting it back on, great way to keep cool! Although we did not finish we made it up the switchback to the next ridge then turned around because when I'm in the woods I forget everything else, including the time ha ha! Although the parking lot was full we only ran in to one other couple from Cali and they were SO nice, we took the trail out with them and had great adventure conversation. :)

I have done this trail numerous times! The best part is getting almost underneath the falls and also being along the water the whole time, my dog espically loves that part because he always has a spot to cool down, and I dunk my shirt to keep cool as well! :) The campground there is also as amazing, #1 is our spot always!

We had quite the adventure getting to this trail via road 5900 from Chelan (not recommended). The trail is well maintained however the bridges to cross over the falls have been removed and the upper falls area are now closed due to last year's wild fires. We were disappointed we couldn't get close to the falls and see what others saw based off previous photos and reviews.

Caveat: only hiked this trail for 1-1.5 miles. This portion of the trail is very easy and flat. It tracks with the Mad River, which looked slightly flooded from the spring snow run off. We went in early May when several species of wildflowers were in bloom and enjoyed our time. If your looking for mountain top views you'd be disappointed. However, for a nice easy riverside hike it was great.

Meadow worth the extra effort the following day.
