Wonderful little trail that hugs the bank of the Nooksack River. Muddy in some of the low spots on the trail but nothing too severe. Wise enough to easily pass others with plenty of space for the most part though it does have its narrow portions. Totally kid friendly most of the way and not much elevation gain until the last 1/2 mile or so. Easy enough to turn around if you aren’t wanting to tackle some steepness. Passed a few people but for the most part it was just my dog and me.

Great quick trail! A bit muddy from the rains but it was easy enough for a family of 5 to have a great time at. Gorgeous hike!

We came up on memorial day with hopes of getting to the chain lakes because the road was closed at it’a trailhead. We didn’t expect so much snow. there weren’t really any trails you could follow. we had a good time wandering around there but definitely it wasn’t what we expected.

Nice, easy trail for a pleasant escape from the world. Plenty of offshoots to keep you occupied for as long as you wish to wander. A little muddy in places but not bad at all.

For all those interested right now, the road is currently blocked by snow! There are some cars that parked 5miles before the trailhead and probably hiked from there. Hope you find this useful and don't waste your time!

We parked where the snow started and hiked up the road in the snow (3ft deep or more) and made it 3 miles up without hitting the trailhead....great workout but will wait for the snow to melt and attempt it again!

Worth every sore muscle. The views are absolutely incredible. It's been several years since I've been up there but the views are etched in my brain. Of course, I went with a girlfriend and a bottle of wine and a warm body to snuggle with didn't hurt.

Like a previous reviewer said, this trail head is a couple hundred feet beyond the wooden car bridge. Pull over to your right where the shoulder widens and the trail head is pretty obvious from there. It is mostly flat on the way to the falls. When you get to the falls, there are some fun paths closer to the falls, going up is easier than going down. Heading down was particularly muddy this time of year and the trail was fairly slippery. Definitely need proper footwear. All trails says this hike is only .6 miles, which seems about right to the actual falls. However, if you want to see them up close, or walk up the trail or down to the lower falls themselves, you will be getting in more walking that that. Overall, this was a fun quick hike.

One of my all time favorite hikes. You just get to walk around beautiful lakes, high up in the mountains, while staring at even more mountains. This hike is well worth it.

5/9/2020 There was a Subaru “stuck” in the middle of the road in a snow drift and the owner left it there instead of waiting for help (lots of trucks up there would have been happy to give a helpful tug), which blocked the roadway for all. There was, however, a tree blocking the road not long after, so whatevs, I guess. I’ll add a picture of where the tree blocks the road (in blue) so people can decide if they want to add the extra mileage to get up. There was still a lot of snow, but these warm temperatures might quickly change that. On a clear day, this hike is lovely! But the conditions were a little obnoxious today.

This is an awesome view! We went up this in early may and you aren’t able to drive up to the trailhead so we had to walk 3.5 miles up the road to the trial head. The whole trail was snow/ slush went up in hiking boots and it was difficult but can be done highly recommend either snow shoes or gators.

Large forest service road with scarce shade. Moderate uphill climb for a little over 2.5 miles. Gorgeous views of Mt Baker starting a mile or so into the hike. We hiked with our 1, 3, 5, and 7 year old and they all were able to do the 5.6 out and back. Nice secluded hike, no other people since there is no real trailhead, just looks like a closed road when you arrive.

Amazing trail in the summer, just went up yesterday, I’d be careful there are patches of compacted snow that are hard to pass through, also there are downed trees that have blocked the road. Past that point it’s all snow.

Perfect adventure to the waterfall. Use gps to find it. Tree has a pink ribbon to where the trail starts

Incredible. Packed snow, great for snowshoeing. Went on a blue sky day, could not have had better views! 360° of snowy mountain ranges. Definitely worth your time on a sunny day.

Trail is not marked from the road, lots of mud, and had to search to find the trail leading down to the falls. But overall the hike was beautiful and a great adventure! Would recommend.
