Really gorgeous and such an easy hike. The main path splits; left is “difficult” and goes through the rock structures, right is “easy” and goes around the rock formations with views of the river. We did both. Watch out for rattlesnakes! The wind was pretty strong but it was welcomed with how hot it was and it kept the mosquitos away. Apparently there is a lot of vandalism though, there is no longer a self pay box but you have to have a discovery pass. Keep that in mind when you come out, I happened to have one, thank goodness! We went on a Thursday evening and we were the only ones there to watch sunset. I advise going during *off* times to avoid crowds.

Stunning views of the gorge and Mt. Hood!
Hike inside the butte through the gorge side you’ll see an opening and you’ll find the Petroglyph in front of what it looks like a chair. Petroglyph is hard to see as it has been vandalized.
Watch for rattlesnakes otherwise good hike for the family.
Need to pay parking fee.

*** If you want to see preserved petroglyphs, drive east, 2 miles up the road towards a camping ground. Take that exit and go pass the camping ground. You’ll see a small sign on your right that says petroglyphs ahead. You will not be disappointed!

Beautiful! Open vistas...grassy hillside, flower season nearly over. Well maintained. I would say easy to moderate hike. Can wear sneakers easily.
Would do again earlier in the season.
Nice cool day with no rain. 62 degrees vs 51 in PDX where it’s raining. Worth the drive.

Nice views, cool stream to ride through, light traffic, up hill first half fast down hill second half. Overall I’d do the trail again

Great hike. Beautiful views.

We arrived around 1pm and the parking lot was pretty full, but found a spot.

Trail starts off with a decent elevation gain on a gravel road, but after a 3/4 mile or so you’d down to a single path among the grass and wildflowers. Trail was very peaceful and the views were beautiful.

Wind was in full force and at times a bit chilly for a sunny and 65 degree day.

Would definitely go back, as we didn’t complete the hike. We did get 4.9 miles in though still.

Beautiful wildflowers right now. Pretty easy, very rocky, some scrambling (nothing impassable)

Very beautiful! Went on a sunny warm day so we could very clearly see the mountains and hills. Not a destination hike. You can take two different routes but both give you great views and if you enjoy a little rock climbing it is a great place for that too.

It seemed very short, went on the easy trail because we had little kids with us. Mostly just grasslands. Was very windy when we went so not super enjoyable.

I walked the trail when I went to look at the petroglyphs that are in the park area. The trail has some great views of the Columbia river.

If you are in the area this is a nice trail with great rock formations. I guess people come to use the rock walls to learn to rappel. There are some petroglyphs near the river in the park area. Not really a destination hike on its own but we enjoyed it.
