It’s a nice hike close to town. No viewpoints but nice and wild nature

This is a good hike if you are liking solitude without driving forever to get there. Although be warned, the actual parking area for this trailhead is very tricky. There is basically room for one compact car, maybe two if you don’t mind being snug and it is right off of Hwy 900, just beyond the driveway to Pacific Topsoils as you’re headed toward Issaquah. A good year round trail (as are most in this area) to help keep you in shape throughout the offseason.

1/13/2017 (Friday) -- Start from Sky Country at 10:15, hiking near 4 hours, 30-37F, party sunny. Loop clockwise. Some trails are covered with ice, but the trails on the souther part are dry and frozen with good traction.

5/2/2016 (Monday) - Get up and start early at 7:30 to enjoy the cool environment of the woods on a hot day, hiking 4 hours (7:50 - 11:50) with temperature changing from 63 to 80F. The southern section of trails is very lightly used as compared with others on Cougar Mountain, but the woods are more pleasant, and the trails are more interesting (featuring footbridges across marshes) and in good condition. By names, the trails I used include: Licorice, Far Country, Shy Bear, Deceiver, Long View Peak, Ring Road... I visited two "lookouts" which have no view and two "falls" which have no water.
