Hiking

This hike has a pretty moderate incline and as a medium level hiker it wasn't too much of a challenge. I thought because of the mileage it might be a bit of a process for me but surprisingly it went smoothly. There are so many beautiful places to take breaks along the trail. There are many creeks, small waterfalls and beautiful trees and greenery along the trail. Honestly, this hike is so worth it. When you finally get to the top its just incredible. The color of Colchuck is hypnotizing. It is a tranquil teal blue and the ice caps and glaciers nearby on Asgard are pretty cool to check out as well. It is such a great place for photographs. An amazing hike for anyone in my opinion!

This is rated as moderate but it’s definitely on the easier side of the spectrum. Nice hike, but personally didn’t find it as breathtaking as some other trails in the area.

Great little hike. just as other reviews, steep coming back up. Still quite a bit of snow, so be careful.

Attempted this today, but the snow was fairly deep especially in certain spots and started going over my boots. Ended up turning around about a 1.5 miles in. Beautiful views along the hike as far as I went as everything is covered in snow. The parking lot is almost covered in snow and like only trucks or SUVs can actually use it. Will go back with better gear!

I loved this Hike! I was a bit exhausted at the end but it was very worth it. The whole trail is gorgeous and filled with wildlife. Standing on the peak will make you feel powerful and accomplished. I highly recommend.

My family and I love the trails around Cranberry Lake. There are many paths to choose from which is nice but also makes it easy to get lost so watch your trail markers carefully. The lake is easy to get to although Alltrails directions to reach the lake are all wrong. From 12th (or Hwy 20) turn onto Hartford Ave, then left onto W 3rd St, right onto Georgia Ave then a right onto Cranberry Lake Rd (you'll see ACFL sign) which takes you straight to a large parking lot with access to the lake.

Did this hike during the snow storms. Everything was pretty with snow. The snow did add an added element of difficulty. Amazing picture opportunities all over the trail. Go on a decent visibility day so that you can see Seattle.

Was a great out and back trail to a beautiful waterfall nothing challenging but great if you want to get out for the day with your kids. If want to do a little work you can go to the top of the waterfall.

This is a nice paved walkway around Wapato Lake, right off S 72nd and Sheridan, in Tacoma, WA. There's wildlife, ducks and all that kind of stuff you find in lakes (yes fish too, bring a pole). There's a bridge that crosses over the water so you get to see all that. Nice people. Just a very enjoyable in-town outing imo. Somethin you can do on your lunch break really! Enjoy

Very nice paved walkway around a golf course with awesome views and water fountains for the dogs even. Good job Pierce County!

Great quick hike through an absolutely beautiful area. Extremely peaceful place.... Can definitely be crowded, but it is worth it to go at least once to visit the area. Definitely recommended. Can bring the family along with no problem.

I went on February 2nd when it was still 50° out. It was really pretty. The sun came out right after I reached the end/upper falls and remained out on the way down. I really enjoyed it.

Completed this “hike” 2/3/19. It is more of a nice winter walk and we didn’t technically need snowshoes but I am glad we had them. The snow was very compact and keep in mind the main road to the parking lot is closed so that adds on about another mile. We went around the pond twice to make the day longer. It was a beautiful day but I enjoy hikes with more elevation. Great for someone who wants a good view without it being too strenuous.

Snowshoeing

My brother and I went Sunday afternoon. We got to the trailhead @ about 1:15pm. There were a few people carrying up their snowboards and skis. It started snowing on the way up and my feet became frozen but I pushed through! There was a lot of fresh snow. If you decide to snowboard down, PLEASE be cautious there are others on this trail!! We almost got pummeled by boarders who were not looking. When you get to the 4 way crossing, go left, otherwise you will end up to the cell tower and dead end. We walked around the lake on a tiny trail and saw a snowman and a half built igloo! Very cool. Be cautious about creating your own trail, there are many hidden drops where you could get stuck. Overall beautiful day and I would do this again! My favorite snowshoe so far.

Beautiful falls with some wonderful picture opportunities from the viewing deck, or a little bit to the right where the smaller cascade of waterfalls is. The main trail is a very short walk from your car, and is wonderful. If you want to, you can scramble down to the base of the falls and get a view looking up at the falls. It is extremely steep and slick with mud and rocks, very slow getting up and down the embankment. Plan on using all fours on this part, and don't slip, you could end up all the way at the bottom if you fell in certain areas. Use the trees for support. Honestly though, it's nothing crazy special at the bottom of the falls, and in hindsight, not really worth the effort most likely. The main trail is a must-do if you are in the area, just to see the falls.

I only hiked halfway, I got a late start and didn't realize the data was out of date. The hike was so beautiful with all the snow. Brought my dog with me and he did just fine, the hike was pretty easy. I brought yak tracks in case of ice on the path but didn't need them. The snow was only about 1-2 inches at most, and the trail was clear and easy to follow. it hadn't snowed heavily in a few days but on the hike out it started to come down pretty good. 10 outta 10 do recomend!
