Nice easy trail with a nice view of the waterfall though the waterfall had no trespassing signs near it. Tons of ticks!

WOW! This is such an incredible place just half an hour from Spokane. My friend had sent me this list: 10 Enchanting Spots In Washington You Never Knew Existed. http://www.onlyinyourstate.com/washington/wa-enchanting/. Hog Canyon Falls is listed and happens to be the only one in Eastern Washington. It truly is a gem and I'm shocked that in ten years living here I'd never been here before. We drove right by the trailhead and ended up parking at a campsite near the boat launch which is on the opposite end of the lake from the falls. There's a bathroom there you can use. Then we started on the trail. There were some sections that involved a little rock climbing both up and down. My 9 year old nephew was with us and he did just fine. There were still wildflowers. We saw a snake and a badger! Gorgeous landscape and canyon. The trail along the lake has you walking high above the lake. Even from far away the falls were impressive. I would like to go back in April or even early May next year to see heavier water flow. But, we were able to walk right up the falls and then we rock climbed up all the tiers to the top of the waterfall. It was a blast! This is a must see in Eastern Washington.

Nice easy trail. Beautiful little creek with turtles and frogs, even saw a train go by.

This small loop is peaceful and a great spot to check out some wildlife.

A great low-intensity walk. The paved trail leads right to fish lake. Not much shade along the way, bring water and sunglasses for sure.

Nice trail. I personally feel the rating of moderate is inaccurate, should be rated as easy. Very little elevation change and the surface is paved but can feel long by the time you get back to your vehicle. If you venture into the Cheney wetlands trail(at about 3.5 miles from Fish lake) the surface changes to gravel and grass two track. Still remains relatively flat but a lot of beautiful scenery. Nice outing today. My wife and I logged 8.91 miles out and back with a short venture into the wetlands(ran short on time to venture further). Plan to do it again but take in more of the wetland's scenery.

Awesome trail to bike or run, it takes you straight to Fish lake. great for families. just make sure to bring plenty of water in the summer.

The hike is an out and back, so it is not as interesting as other trails. However, it was still beautiful and a nice hike to do.

This is wonderful please, full of nature. I have seen porky pines, turtles, water snakes, lots of mosquitos, ducks, and other animals.

I have hiked this trail many times over the past few years and my experience is different every time depending on the time of year. In March- April I have noticed a lot of bluebirds as the trail name suggests, both the western and mountain bluebird, nut hatches, northern flickers. Sometimes on the back side of the trail you can see Elk and Moose. My favorite experience so far is a couple bucks sparing in early October. May - August, There are some coyotes there that howl at sunset, a group in the public area and a group in the off limits area. One group will howl then stop and listen to the other group howl. It’s an amazing thing to hear. Only downside is there are a lot of ticks in Turnbull so bring the bug spray.

Hike was really pretty. It was flooded in a few spots so we had to navigate around them but were able to make due :]

The route shown for this hike is incorrect for the first part of the hike. The true trailhead is a short distance into the 5 mile driving route. You can either park at headquarters and walk down the driving route to find the trailhead or drive there and drive the rest of the one way loop afterward. The incorrect route takes you through the refuge's maintenance area and on a service road. I enjoyed this trail simply because it had coverage from the sun. Many other areas of the refuge are very exposed, and on a hot day that can be a lot to take in. Don't expect anything at the end though. It's a nice, but anticlimactic stroll through the forest.

This hike is short and sweet. A bit overgrown for sure, but nice scenery.

Lovely and easy hike along the shore of a peaceful lake, as well as nearby grassland and stands of Ponderosa Pine. Late spring is perfect time to see lots of wildflowers and birds galore!

Beautiful and easy hike along a paved trail. Perfect spot to enjoy the many birds that migrate through in the spring.

I first hiked this trail in November of last year. To my surprise, I was fortunate enough to see a moose grazing in the distance. To my dismay, my camera battery was dead. This is one of the better trails in the refuge. It is flat, and easy to follow. This would be a very family-friendly hike. There are nice views of the marshes and lake, and lots and lots of birds!

There is a small parking area at the trailhead, and a restroom.

This is one of the many lovely nature trails in the Turnbull Refuge. I did this trail today as a loop, hiking back along the very scenic road. This trail is not quite as lovely as some of those that pass along the lakes and marshes, but it is a nice hike just the same.

It is worth mentioning that I costs $3.00 for an access pass at the entrance to Turnbull Wildlife Refuge. You pay in an envelope at the gate, and put the dated receipt in your car window.

This is one of the many nature trails in Turnbull Wildlife Refuge. I spent the entire day hiking some of the lovely trails in these wetlands. This is a wonderful place to do some nature hiking, especially if you like water fowl.

This is one leg of the Columbia Plateau Trail. This trail is paved, and excellent for hiking or bikes. This follows an old railroad grade. It has a lake and small park at one end, and an ample parking area at the other.

Winslow Pool Trail shares the trail with Pine Lakes Loop Trail for about half of the distance. At the end of the lake, instead of taking the short loop around, you take a wider loop. The Pine Lakes Loop Trail is paved beautifully all around. The wider loop that Winslow Pool Trail takes is a finely graveled trail / road. It's a beautiful hike, with abundant birds and a few deer on the day I went. It is an easy hike, with no significant obstacles or inclines.

This is a park where you have to go multiple times to take the time to explore. My bestfriend and I have seen many beautiful things there, whether we were driving through or hiking one of the trails. We even made friends with one of the common chip munks that you'll see running across the trails.

This hike was beautiful and interesting the first few miles, but after that it was kind of miserable. Walking on a rocky roadbed took it's toll, for us and our german shepherd, plus it was just long straightaways. Maybe our unfamiliarity with the refuge played a role, but at this point, we wouldn't do this again.

A great place go on a day hike. very level terrain. Maintained neat trails and parking. Only complaint is the tick problem. Don't go walking here without knowing there's a great possibility of collecting ticks.
