Fun, easy hike. Saw beavers in the pond!

Easy out and back. First two miles are well maintained gravel and dirt. Third mile is dirt, rocks and roots but very manageable. Trail stays on the lake and is well shaded.

Good trail conditions. Get there early for parking. BUGGY, so bring repellent. We started at 0730, so it was quiet and we were alone most of the way. No great views of Lost Lake, because it's wooded right to the edge. But the spur to Fragrance Lake is worth it, and you can even swim.

Great (nice and wide) trail with a meandering climb and lots of flat traverses. Nice view of Lake Whatcom at the top. Hiked it with my husband and dad. I plan to trail run it next time. Note: Mountain bikers can ride up trail but not down. There is a gravel trail down for mountain bikers.

awesome trail around lake. Beautiful scenery

Great hike, signage could be better! But what a great day!

Quick hike with a lookout or all the way to the lake. Great one for your first moderate hike.

Fun trail. Beautiful. Part fire road part trail. Pickaboo views of Samish Bay. Really enjoyed, but weather was sunny n warm when we went. Stop by the Oyster Bar for nice post hike meal. About 3 miles south on Chuckanut.

Started at the Cyrus Gates Trailhead and connected through Rock Trail. Very narrow and muddy going down towards the lake, and if you’re not looking it’s easy to lose the trail. I did this and had to back track. The lake itself is unremarkable. GPS put me at 7.9 miles.

Great signage, steady elevation gain, good terrain, great payoff at the top with view of Lake Whatcom. Very little mud even after days of rain.

Perfect with a run stroller

All up hill, but not at a terribly steep grade. The views at the top are incredible!

Well maintained trail that pretty much is up switchbacks to the lake. Starts off up right away and then after the lookout is uphill. Lake is very pretty and a great place for lunch. The backside is beautiful with boulder towering over your head. Lots of people and dogs on a Saturday.

Beautiful trail and is now one of my favorites! The trail is both covered with shade and has areas uncovered to feel the sun. Lots of trees and benches along the way, and spots to take in the views, have lunch and enjoy. Perfect for families and biking riding, running and for dogs. There’s a small waterfall, swimming areas, and perfect for kayaking. I’ll be back lots now that I found this spot!

Super short but fun hike. Got a little off the beaten path and there were some great photo spots

This hike is super peaceful and a great little workout. The only thing to note - around 12 pm, the hike gets significantly more crowded with people and (lots of) dogs. We got there around 10 am on a Saturday and it was a wonderful, quiet hike up to the lake.

I didn't realize it was uphill all the way. Slow and steady but made it. The lake at the end is so beautiful.

Nice easy one, beautiful

Parked at the trail head today and my car plus all the cars next to mine were broken in today many valuables were stolen so be careful parking at the trailhead!

Great challenging first time hike....totally enjoyed the hike up with friends....#firsthikeever

Awesome trail! Lots of great views and the lake is beautiful! Beware, lots of dogs off leash.

The trail was great! The hike is a lot of climbing at an incline. The lake was beautiful. Definitely a fun and challenging hike for my family of beginners.

This was a beautiful trail, not too remote and not difficult. Lots of places to enjoy a snack and the lake.

great trail, with great views.

We actually didn't end up going to the lake. Instead we walked the fragrance lake trail until you are nearly at the lake, and instead took a right, then a left up the mountain to Cleator road. Once we got to Cleator road we continued uphill to the Cyrus Gate Outlook. It's a lot of uphill but wasn't very difficult for us, as moderate hikers. That view is worth it.
