Nice, well maintained. I recommend detouring onto the Azalea trail instead of the road as marked. A rare non-muddy walk!

Nice breezy walk. Parts are paved mostly but also areas around the exhibits that are unpaved pathsin the vegetation. Pretty flower fields and the Columns views.

A little muddy, towards the end dont take the strenuous path or you'll miss your cutoff.

Good paved path all along with some urban views. Many bikers, runners, walkers. East Bend seems busier than west bend.

While the trail itself was very nice, the neighborhood was not. As a female riding alone, I did not feel Safe during the brief 20 minute ride, I was called whitey, told to go back to my own side, cat called, and harrassed. I also witnessed several drug deals. All of this at noon on a Wednesday. I regularly go into diverse neighborhoods to complete trails and I’ve never felt so unwelcome, so many times, in just 20 minutes. I’m thankful I was on bike and not on foot. Don’t go alone!

Great trail! We enjoyed a beautiful ride following this path. There are plenty of opportunities to add more to the ride though.

Perfect trail for Road Biking! You can ride the trail or get on the road. Not too many vehicles passing through.

The elevation is not right. I recorded over 700 on both this app and MapMyRide. Really fun ride. Lots to see. Requires a fair amount of on street biking as of sept 2020

Nice trail, get here early. We veered to the Azalea garden that is in the hill to get a better workout. It was forested and quieter.

WalkingGreat!

I’m used to backpacking and this is not that. But I still love it. Paved. Two lanes so bikes have a clear path. Lots of offshoots into gardens. A small creek runs beside the trail and provides calming sound. There are a number of benches where you can sit and read. It is heavily trafficked. So go super early and during the week.

If you only have time for one side, this is the better one with more to see. The dwarf conifer section and Asian gardens do not allow access by bike. I rode and got off to access these sections. One other small section near the end is currently closed to the public. I cannot tell what is in that section. There are bike share bikes here for people that don’t have their own.

I’d advise doing this on a bike. Long sections with nothing to see, especially the spur trail to the hilltop. I rode and then stopped at items of interest which include capital columns, azalea garden, boxwood garden, perennial garden, herb garden and ends at the museum. Bike share bikes available on site if you don’t have your own

beautiful trail, goes right under CT ave and connects to rock creek/WIS gardens, but is either a straight incline or decline depending which way you take it
