This is a pretty trail. I walked this trail with my parents, starting at the visitor’s center and taking woodstock pond trail south, then to the turn north again towards fossil beach, which is called mattaponi trail. It’s a fairly easy walk, perfect for families. Very little change in elevation. In total we walked roughly 2 miles in an hour and a half. After heavy rain last night, there were small puddles, but nothing that is impossible to avoid. Fossil beach is beautiful, we saw a butterfly santuary with a dozen+ butterflies. It was very lightly trafficked, but then again, it was a monday.

Nice historical adventure with the family. Snapped a pic with Phocohontas for the a child's memory book.

Nice hiking trail. Not long or hard, mostly flat with a lot of bugs. Lots of sea shells to look for on the beach.

Very low impact hike highly recommend the views are amazing.

This was a nice stroll through the woods with a few gorgeous views of the river. There were some interesting historical markers along the path which was pretty neat. There were a few easy climbs but nothing to difficult. The trail was wide and clear of debris and roots. FYI there is a $4 parking fee. I only gave it 4 stars because the first part of the trail was not well marked and I did have to back track. Would recommend.

Very pretty woods. Single lane road with no bike lane. Had to pull off the side of the road several times to let vehicles pass . If you go, go early so there is less traffic.

Nice short trail for the family and dog friendly. Started off next to a pond and then ventured through the woods until you reach the beach. The beach is pretty and there are lots of shells to be found. Overall, a nice day trip.

This is a nice trail in York River State Park. I have hiked this trail several times but the location is wrong. I will suggest an edit.

I've run these trails 3 times now. If you want it to yourself then go early in the morning. There's usually plenty of shells to find on the beach. It is kept up very well, however the last time I went there was a tree down covering one of the trails. If you go when it is humid outside then be sure to bring bug spray. The best part in my opinion is how secluded it is. Will be going back this summer to run.

The Taskinas Trail was great, beautiful views throughout the trail. Looking forward to exploring more of the park.

This part of the York River is beautiful by daylight but even more at night. Many Virginia State Parks have ranger led night hikes. York River State Park is no exception. We had to run the las half mile because the sky started flashing and booming. I made it to the car with only about 3 drops of rain. There were bats, bugs, two deer, a skunk, and much more. Some of my pictures came out too dark, but others are okay.

I had planed on spending the day Saturday but it rained all day. Why hike in the rain if you don't have to? So I went today and it was sunny and cool Perfect hiking weather!!! It was so beautiful. The trees had small leaves and the dogwood were in bloom.

Really nice trail approx. 2 miles - I think its best to hike not bike we did both. Be mindful that its east to get turned onto another trail when on here as we ended up doing 3 times. They all intersect and loop around each other. The markers can be a bit misleading, so if you want it to be a 5 or even 4 mile just pick up the Dogwood or Majestic when they intersect and you'll increase your mileage plus take advantage of the different terrains.

This was a nice trail nothing as spectacular as theTaskina's or even Mattaponi but nice. If you like hiking in the woods this will be a treat.

Beautiful Walk - I wouldn't call this a moderate hike as listed, I didn't exert any energy really. The views are majestic. Very serene walk, really nice for couples or just to enjoy nature. I have been about 4 times and each time is peaceful, never crowded, and very clean. Side note - Bring your Iphone or camera phone because you'll be stopping every 100 feet. The way it is set up you can even climb off the path to take pictures and just sit. Great place for a picnic too.

Love this Place, they offer a variety of trails for any level. A group of us have begun hiking and biking- we range from beginning to advance… Having stated that each person feels satisfied hiking here. I will note sometime going in the morning is a little busier than in the afternoon so if your looking for solace go at a later time. The views are spectacular. Taskinas is my favorite, it gives me the difficulty I like and the serenity I look for.

This park offers the most variety of any trail set in the region - from woodlands to open meadows, wetland vistas, fossil beach and great elevation changes with switchbacks. I stop here whenever traveling through the peninsula.

Great trail. Intermediate, not difficult, although there are some vicious switchbacks to catch you out. Very flowing, varied scenery. Only one steep hill section, so a good 45 min ride. The ravine is 6 miles, so by the time you add in the trail to and from the parking, nearly a 10 mile loop. Good condition too. Recommended.
