At the very back of the park, behind the picnic area, there is a collection of poorly marked but easily navigated trails. There are white blazes, and green blazes and tin medallions embossed with a “hiker” logo. I couldn’t make sense of any of them, but honestly you don’t even need them. My guess is that these trails were created for picnickers to walk off an afternoon of hotdogs, potato salad and beer. Nothing challenging here, but if you don’t like walking on cement, this is a decent alternative.
The front of the park has a nice Japanese garden and a well groomed trail through pines and azaleas. Certainly not a “destination” but if you are in the neighborhood it makes for a decent afternoon or morning.

Rode my TREK Powerfly 5 from the 64th entrance along the Raptor and Cape Henry Trail to the boat ramp and back. It’s a beautiful area with excellent birding and easy access to salt water marshes and shoreline beaches. Lots of shade trees.

Osprey trail is NOT for biking, just hiking. Bike is allowed only on Cape Henry trail.

Thy trail was pretty busy on both ends, with a lot of people not paying attention to their surroundings. As far as biking goes, this trail is okay. The first few miles from the trail center were nice, but then back half had spots that were pretty sandy for a bike, and the view changed from quiet nature ride to beach party-ish. Suggested trail edits to correspond with the trail map available through the State Park (and actual park signage), which has the trail turning towards Broad Bay with a total trail distance of 6.1 miles (http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/document/data/trail-guide-firstlanding.pdf)

First Landing Park trails, in their entirety, are great way to spend your entire day. For the most part, they're all flat trails, with the only challenge coming in their length depending on how much you prefer to walk. Be sure to pick up a park map from the trail Center. It's worth noting that there's also a parking pass fee ranging from $5 to $10 depending on the time of year.

Good trail, generally has less people than the rest of the park. (it's the farthest from any parking)

Great bike ride! We took our kids and they are not strong bikers, but had a great time. Heard the frogs, saw the woodpeckers and the swamps. A little crowded on a Saturday in March, but still room to ride. Decent elevation changes for controlled coasting and mild hill climbs.

Great for dogs

Very nice trail, always see people on it but it's never too crowded. Saw a bald eagle first time on this trail so I'll definitely be back!

This trail was so nice, even on a cloudy day like it was. Not too many people considering it was a Saturday, and we only went a little while down. My friend and I brought our dogs too, and they loved it! I loved the part with the little bridge path!

Hiked the trail Dec. 24, 2017. A good trail for beginner, like myself. Great views of the lake and surrounding homes.

Mountain biking is a stretch to describe this trail. It does have some very pleasant views, especially once you get to "the narrows" section.

Actually used kayak from the mouth of Rudee inlet to paddle back into the creek, Easy voyage, saw some wildlife from a distance, i.e. cranes, snake lots of little fiddler crabs. very nice trip but not long.

NOTE: This is a water trail, so unless you have a canoe/kayak, or can walk on water, you will be as confused as a number of us have been. Had a talk with the nice folks at the Back Bay Wildlife Center nearby, who directed me to go to the back, visit their center there and walk the dunes.

Where the heck does this trail start? When you go towards the back of the park it is swamp?

trail running

Very nice, well kept trail. Some cool cypress swamps along sides and Spanish moss hanging from trees. Basically flat the entire length and excellent footing. Could run 2-3 abreast if you wanted. Multiple side trails you could take to mix things up or make longer. Able to run this trail as fast as you'd like without issue or worry about footing. Would definitely run it again.
