This might be my favorite hike in SWVA. It is a strenuous hike - but as others have said, very doable for a novice - just allow for 6 hours for hiking and chilling on the top. And bring plenty of water - at least 32 oz.

This is a tough climb. The views are beautiful and worth the climb.

One of my favorite hikes around SWVA!! This hike has a very steep incline and is lightly trafficked. The summit offers multiple ledges and viewpoints with a lot of room to sit and have a snack. You will cross two streams with log bridges and walk through a beautiful pasture. I recommend this trail to experienced hikers and healthy dogs. Beginner hikers will have no problem completing the trail but expect your legs to be sore in the coming days. If you are looking for a challenging out and back hike, this is for you! I recommend brining at least 3 bottles of water for each hiker.

This trail is great in early/mid Spring before the leaves are fully on the trees. You can see more of the surrounding landscape as you're climbing up. Saw a 3 foot black snake on trail. The trail was in great shape with only one small tree down. The views are well worth the hike up.

Great views but a difficult hike for a beginner

Awesome views!

This is my favorite hike in the Roanoke/Salem area!!! The hike itself is beautiful & the view is perfect!!

Loved the views and a great experience!
