Hiked this trail as part of a training session for an upcoming long distance backpacking hike. I walked the loop as depicted. About 6.8 miles if you believe my GPS. Definitely not Easy. I would rate it as moderate. Very few level stretches and about 90 percent up or down in the first 80 percent of the trail. Definitely need bug spray in mid August. Parallels a nice stream for about a mile or so in the second half. Lots of trees. Bet it would be very pretty in the Fall. Bring lots of water.

Great trail but trailhead not where depicted in All Trails.

Did this hike with my 2 year old & 5 year old sons. They had fun splashing in the creek & with the hike. The little one got tired on the way back & needed to be carried. The last short leg of the hike, down to the cascade, is a bit steep. Overall a nice walk

Not a crowded park - great for peaceful walks with the dog.

Easy hike it’s a bit too close to roads and civilization for a true hike. The trail is very well kept.

This was a good hike. We took the dog and had a good time. We crossed roads a few times, which I didn't love, but it was enjoyable all the same. We went clockwise and had no complaints.

This is a great trail run/walk course. Very tough course!

While not necessarily jaw-dropping, this is a very pretty short hike. Note: when you get to the river, cross the water and turn left. The real waterfall is still a quarter mile or so upstream!

Beautiful place with lots of trails to choose from and all lead to gorgeous hikes!

Enjoyable, hiked part of it with my friends and our dogs. Everyone had fun, water is good to cool off in

Fun time, nice to have a creek so the dog can cool off. Easy loop

Great exercise trail for walking, biking, or running. Would be five stars but there are no great views, just streams and woods. There are steep hills for a strenuous run, but with a good plan you can walk for a couple of miles without overworking it.

There were many trails to choose from. Grab a map! Great hike.

Nice 2 mile trail that leads to a pretty cool small water fall. It was great for my 2 Goldenretrievers and one of them is just a pup. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the end of the trail was blocked with trees and there was no getting around them.

Awesome to learn something new and hangout with friends and family

A nice afternoon hike that is just a short distance from DC. If you have time, the Shenandoahs are only 90 minutes away and so much better, but sometimes you only have an afternoon or just cannot get to the Shenandoahs. This hike is a great close in one in DC with good streams and more solitude than you would expect.

Trail has mis-marking. Overall a great trail though.

saw Mr Beaver when creek was frozen.
started from lot E.

Lovely hike (did the South Valley Trail to the North Valley Trail out and back). Several opportunities to cross the stream on logs which was fun. Would rate easy not moderate, but definitely enjoyable.

Trail is very well maintained, the blazes could be a little easier to find in some spots though. Really enjoyed the hike, no traffic on a Thursday afternoon.

Hiked this about a year ago. Very easy. Bonus-Geocache along the way.

Ok trail. Almost all through woods with about .75 miles on paved roads. Good scenery. Moderate up and downs. Is actually composed of the joining of several other trails. Worth the effort.

The loop is decent. Not much variety in the scenery, but the pets along the creek are nice. Bathroom stop along the way is a plus. Trail was relatively empty on a gray weekend day, which is nice if that's what you're looking for.

On the park map this is called the Quantico Cascades Trail. Park in lot E. At the end of the trail it is definitely cascades - no waterfall - but still beautiful! Easy hike with 3 year old, 5 year old, and dog.

Nice little trail. Park in lot E and then the trail head is well marked then follow the yellow blazes. There is limited parking, maybe 8 spots. The parking area faces an open area with picnic tables so you can lunch before or after your walk. The hike itself is pretty, woods with old growth trees. The cascades are maybe more of a river with rocks but sit and listen to them for awhile before heading back. The are small but beautiful. Somewhat steep right at the end so you can get your heart-rate up a bit. Nice little hike for some quiet forest time.

Great trail that challenges you with many ups and downs and primarily in the woods and along the stream. Does a great job of avoiding walking along roads, for the most part.
