HikingGreat!

Good hike, definitely the most crowded summit we saw during our few days in the park. The uphill (as opposed to the loop) was tough but not too long & the views were great at the top!

parked at the Hawksbill parking lot and hiked down Cedar Run. the link trail is closed. the recent rains has a lot of water on the trail and the rocks are slippery. poles helped, just be mindful of it, there are many places you don’t want to fall. Otherwise if you want want waterfalls, this is the loop for you. there are tons of them. the hike up White Oak wasn’t all that bad. i took the horse trail back to my car (all uphill of course). 4.5 hours of hiking, a little over 6 overall because i ate lunch and a snack at a couple of the falls.

Great moderate hike along the AT. Several good viewpoints and not too packed, but Mary's Rock can get crowded. Can also start the hike from the end of the parking lot at Jewell Hollow Overlook. There's a small trail at the end of the pavement that connects to the AT.

we did our own thing. 17.5 miles in 2 days. best scenery was on the at, hawksbill summit and the hogcamp branch up to the dark holllow falls. ride river falls were also noteworthy. that trail up from rose river along hogcamp branch was brutal., but well worth it, at least once!

A lot of fun! Really interesting as you pass by lots of waterfalls, with one or two good viewpoints across the valley on the way up (I went counterclockwise). I like to trail run, but the trail was very rocky, so I had to be careful, and my knees certainly felt it after! I think some people go down the natural slides for fun, but no one was doing it when I went (a weekday in September). I took a quick dip in one the swimming holes though.

Great trail, very rocky regardless of which way you take the loop. The creek down at the cabin is the perfect spot to take a break and recharge for the steep climb out.

While a bit wet due to the recent rain it was a great hike. Went swimming in the pool at the bottom of the falls... COLD in early Sept, but definitely invigorating : ) Hiked with 16, 12, 9, 4 and 2 (in backpack) and apart from since slippery rocks all went well.

HikingGreat!Rocky

This trail was no joke. Hiked from the bottom of the canyon counter clockwise with my 10 year old daughter. If you just hike up to the falls and back, you'll have an easy hike. The waterfalls are great- there is even one right next to the trail that you can take a "shower" in. We were the only ones we saw cross the river without using the bridge, above the top of the falls, which my daughter loved. The horse trail was cake. The blue trail down was no joke. There are 2 pretty tricky stream crossings- the first one you have to hike over or around a bunch of downed trees, and the last one near the bottom we just decided to get wet and take off our shoes. The blue trail down is super challenging and was much harder than going up the other side. All in all, had a great day except maybe the last 2 miles. Would definitely recommend to experienced hikers.

We went counterclockwise which was definitely the best way to go! The waterfalls are gorgeous and we had not realized that the rushing water was throughout the hike! We kept stopping to look at all of the interesting features and loved all of it. We are fairly fast hikers but this took us longer due to making sure to be sure footed. Be on the lookout as we did see one rattlesnake on the trail.

This was just an amazing trail. Waterfalls and wildflowers made for some truly breathtaking beauty. It was quite strenuous. Make sure to grab a map as some sections of the trail are somewhat sparsely marked.

beautiful trail. although the "lake" isn't exactly on the trail. it's a reservoir anyway but you have to tredge a bit through rough terrain off trail to get to a boggy marsh side
