Completed this hike many times over the past few years. Easy access via Swift Run Gap park entrance for a quick hike when short on time. Easy grade up and down suitable for kids and dogs. Great view in relation to the work required to get to the top.

Really enjoyed this hike. I got on the trail about 1730 after work and only saw two other people, one being a through hiker. So it was pretty quiet and the hike up was long enough for me to have to work at it without any desire to turn back early. The view at the top was gorgeous and well worth the hike.

This hike has a lot of bang for its buck! A great workout and some interesting rock formations to see going up. Gorgeous from the outlook at the top. Short enough to do as an after work hike, but can keep going on the AT as long as you’d like. Definitely coming back for a sunset hike.

Great, quick trail. Nice views from the top. There are three lookout points. The third ledge is actually the one with the best view. I did this trail in under two hours.

I agree with Chris that the hike didn’t have the spectacular vistas of other hikes, but for a cold, snowy day the view of and through the trees was wonderful.

Nice trail, it is not too steep so it is relatively easy hike up to a nice look out point. The views from the look out point are really nice. One of the better look out points IMO.

It was great to be on the AT during parts of this trail. IMO the trail waa easy because it was never steep or rocky. I didn't need my ankle high hiking boots on this trail like on rocky trails.

Fairly level climbs and descents--nothing too steep, slippery, or narrow. No sweeping vistas, but a pleasant hike nonetheless. There is a small spring and a shelter with picnic table on the Saddleback Mountain trial portion of the route. The little cemetery spur isn't marked on the trail, but if you find it, there are a few older and a few renovated headstones.

The directions posted here about the trail are accurate, and you can park right on Skyline Drive where the AT crosses at the US 33 entrance.

Trail is dog-friendly.
