Nice cool down walk in between trail runs.

Overlook ok, historical ref. don't go in the evening. Lots of folks fishing among other things.

Great to run and then in reverse to get in a nice 5 miles.

Nice little 2 mile trail. It initially goes over a bridge with a pretty lake and the rest is wooded. Plenty of deer and there’s some civil war history to be seen.

Beautiful and easy scenic walk. Fun playgrounds are close by for the little children.

Nice, flat trail with nice views of the lake and woods.

Beautiful scenery including a great view of the water. Trail was easy to follow, flat, and mostly clear of debris. If you go in the winter be sure to dress warm. The wind was pretty strong, especially near the water. We even saw a few deer.

Great loop with several beautiful views of the water! Also, some incredible historical anecdotes on a battle that occurred at this location.

Short but nice trail. There are plenty of overlooks and benches. Well maintained although you will need to watch for occasional roots in the path. Excellent trail for dogs as it is mostly shaded and not too long in the heat of the day.

This is a beautiful trail, the trails are not lakside loop though. You start at the visiters center and go around the wayside back to the fishing area. From there on down the lakeside to the trail head. Then White Oak trail and back to the visiters center. It's a good little walk,I loved it...Igave it a 4 because I did not know it was a few trails together and not marked Lakeside Loop...But it is a beautiful trail.

This trail is very nice. Perfect for a good walk,it has lake, woodland and swamp views. It's also a great connector to get to other trails if you want to get some real distance...I highly recommend it.

Love this trail it has pretty woods and beautiful wildlife it's got enough up and down hills that makes it a small challenge. Yes there is a good amount of people on it but I view that as a safer trail for a female (or anybody) to run on incase anything we're to happen biggest downside is the roots from the trees, it's a trail you definitely have to pick your feet up on because take it from me you WILL trip

Short and sweet. It circles the lake and never loses sight of it. Nothing like a water view on a hot day.

It is not my idea of a hike. More of a neighborhood walkabout.

Great way to get the exercise and see beautiful scenery and history. I bring my grandson here and he feel free to roam and explore!

4 stars for views
3.5 stars for crowds (2 stars for perceived safety, if your hiking alone...ladies)
4.5 stars for city/hwy noise

At 7,712 acres, and 30 miles of trails, this is my favorite local area to hike. Plenty of seclusion if hiking for distance. Almost guaranteed to see deer. Especially lots of newborn fawn in late spring. See earthen Civil War fortifications, as well as Washington's Headquarters.

The trails are mostly flat and well kept.

Good for a short walk. Has a small playground a few benches around the lake. A couple picnic tables and installed grills. A small basketball court and a few areas of grass that are large enough for some flag football or frisbee tossing.

Love this park for a nice local walk. There is SO much wild life, and the aren't timid! I really enjoy the white oak trail. (I think thats the name?) My pug can do most the trails here, so its great for beginners!

This is a beautiful park. And all the wildlife sometimes come right up to you. I see a lot more here than I do any other place in Hampton Roads area. Its so peaceful. Not as many people as FLSP. The park is in the front and further back is a golf course. It has a camp ground and quite a few kid playing areas. And there are plenty of options for trails. The animals make it +++ and the water views.

Pro: the bathrooms are always clean and open. And the rangers really make you feel safe since they are always there. The fire dept is right at the beginning of the park. So its a quieter park but they make it feel safe.

Cons: there are no real cons about the the park. I am a runner and I go early in the morning. There are no lights. its plain dark and go with a headlight. It can be a little creepy if your not used to that. IE - Me. Elevation is minimal but they have small foot rolling hills.

Could have been tougher
