Photos of National Parks in Virginia

Went up December 10. Very thin frosting of snow on the trail that burned off by 11 am, even so it wasn't slippery. I'd guess that with a little thawing there may be muddy patches, but when it's 35 degrees and below the ground is firm. Even with leafless trees, most of the trail up to the lodge on Skyline (closed) is sheltered from wind. Good trail for running, well maintained and clear even this time of year, and it's not to steep to safely carry some speed downhill, but of course watch for uphill hikers.
