I actually hiked this trail because of the difficulty rating... i knew nothing of what was supposed to be at the summit... when i turned off on the vista trail about half way up a family was on the way down... when i passed them all they said was “keep going its worth it”... they could not of been more correct... one word for the summit...”WOW” ... i would recommend trekking poles... i was the only one on this trail using them and everyone i passed said i wish i would of thought of that!

Only complaint is trailhead is slightly hard to find due to lack of signs. I started at the lake beach and without this app i would not of found the trailhead hiking the lake loop toward the inside park campground... If you hike in from any other direction from the outside campground or boat ramp the signs are much better!

There are zero water sources if you do not bring enough unless you hike the lake loop to ccc near boat ramp. Trail is very well maintained mostly single track with very steep hillsides! Would not recommend summiting with small children because most of the trail is inclined but i have friends who have done it! For the hike down go slow or you will pound your knees!

I started at the beach. The first 4.5 miles was great. After that, traffic picks up and you finish through a lot of busy and crowded places. All in all, a great hike.

Really fun trail because you get rewarded with amazing views at the top and the lake at the bottom to cool off and relax after.

I parked at the spillway and took the Lake trail to the CCC trail and then on up to the Molleys Knob trail to the summit. Coming down I stayed on the Molleys knob trail to the Lake trail. I then took the Lake trail back to the parking area for a total hike of 7.5 miles. It was a little more difficult than I expected for a moderate rating but well worth the effort for the views at the top.

Outstanding views at the top! Pretty steep hike, but well worth it for the view!

First time I completed the Lake Trail Loop was back in 2013 and I logged 7.0 miles using a GPS. Two other times I logged 6.5... Trail is nice. Hiking around the beach, beach parking lot, and road to get back on the trail can be tricky the first time.

Amazing trail! Moderate traffic and for experienced hikers. If you are in this beautiful part of the Appalachian Mountains definitely worth checking out. I have a 6 year old dog in good shape and I have taken her a couple of times..she does great but it is a steep hike and we take it slow.

Moderately strenuous climb to the vista, but well worth the effort. Numerous benches along the trail to catch your breath. Great long range views.

Beautiful views. Pretty steep at times. If you go in the summer, take plenty of water and pace yourself. Picturesque in the fall. Lots of wildlife: box turtle, fence lizard, black snake, squirrels and deer.

Molly's knob is a great hike @ Hungry Mother. The incline is pretty steep sometimes, but the trail is extremely well maintained. There are benches on the trail every so often, with two at the top as well. Incredible views at the peak! Well worth the hike!

Fun trail with great views. It was pretty busy the day we hiked it. We will definitely do it again.

Loved this trail!!! Absolutely stunning views from Molly's Knob. Seven members of our family had a great time hiking it today. We range in age from 70 to 7 and we all made it with lots of laughter and fun.

Views are worth the hike. I would rate this strenuous just because it's uphill almost all the way to the top then you have to be really careful coming back down because it's steep.

Great hike on well mainrained trails. The last 0.4 miles to the summit is a little strenuous but the view is worth the climb.

The trail going up to mollys knob is demanding in some areas but is absolutely worth it once you reach the top!!! Breath taking view!!!

easy little loop trail with lots of ups and downs. This used to be the old horse trail for Hungry mother State Park so it's not very long.

Amazing place. I just did the Breaks so maybe that was too much awesome beauty at one time. If you think that you need to be in the North Cascades for incredible beauty, maybe Virginia deserves a second look.

Great trail, actually 5.8 miles for the full loop. Several other good trails in park too, including summit of Molly's Knob with excellent view. Great place to stay, lots of history in park and the Rangers are awesome.

I did the Molly Knob & vista trail which was a great work out. I was greeted at the summit being swarmed with thousands of termites ( I believe as were black ants that flew). I also did the CCC and the lake loop. It was so pretty. I relaxed by the shelter for an hour listening to the breeze in the tree leaves and watching the fish jump in the lake. There was so many great views. I went for a swim
And then had to make myself leave. It's is a magnificent palace for hiking, biking, and lots to do for the entire family from fishing, swimming and paddle boating. I can't wait to take others back with me. I'm so glad I spent the day there instead of rushing to the devil bath tub after summiting The knob. The rangers are very nice and informative as well as well as you can print the map outside forms machine is the office is closed.

We hiked Clyburn Ridge Trail yesterday- beautiful views at top of ridge; moderately challenging due to climbing and descending repeatedly but slope is fairly gentle. Trail is well marked and there are benches in a couple of places if you need a little break. Very nice hike.
