We hiked the trail on August 15th. We found the trail to be very well marked and moderately busy. The trail is wide and accommodates traffic in both directions. We didn't notice any horses on trail or any evidence that they had been on the trail recently. The falls are beautiful and make for some nice pictures of our trip to share with others.

Offers a little bit of everything - modest climb, well maintained trails, water crossings, and a scenic view. Didn't find it to been too challenging, but was pleased to see very little trail traffic.

Started in Draper and ran the Clayton Lake bridge and back, total 10 miles. Great views, flat and well maintained.

Very nice and peaceful place

Beautifully maintained. It costs $5 to park. I went after a large rain storm and everything drained well. My app tracked this path as 6 miles but it was very enjoyable and I will definitely return!

My husband and I did this trail on July 1 early in the morning and it was phenomenal. It had rained the week before, so the multiple falls had a nice flow. You travel along the river the whole time, with multiple chances to get down to the water, which is great on a hot day to cool off. The trail was slightly rocky and a bit steep, but nothing terribly challenging. If you’re lookin to add a bit more distance, you can keep walking along the river on the Rose River Loop Trail. Great short, photogenic hike!

Trails were poorly marked and ended up getting lost. Trail we ended up traveling on was not kept up, grass was up to our knees in parts and I was scared of snakes. Not the adventure we were looking forward to.

Great trail for running. Also mountain biking. Quiet in most sections. Pretty well marked. Nice views of the river. Very wooded so you feel far from the city even though you’re in it.

A lot trees blocking the trials.

I loved this loop, there was the perfect mix of rock scrambles and easy trail hikes that I never got tired. Beautiful things to see and for going on a Sunday afternoon it really wasn't too crowded. Great hike!

great for run training but bikes use it too so be aware.

relaxing trail run

it is more of a walk. when sunny, it is very crowded.

Easy hike going down. Pretty steep coming up.

Fun urban experience.

After heading down the trail (which, due to being a bit steep at times, was a little rough on the knees ... but otherwise enjoyable) we took time to sit and listen to the cascading waterfall at the bottom of the trail. (Along with about a billion other people ... okay, not really that many, but when you're trying to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature ... it kinda looked and sounded like it.

My Wolfpack and I conquered this trail... The river runs down beside the trail the entire way to the waterfall, are you strong enough to join my Wolfpack?

This trail is a conveniently-located, wooded loop just off of Route 15 near Haymarket. The distance is not huge, but it is part of a forthcoming network of trails along Catharpin Creek. It is well maintained. There are nice views of the creeks along the trail. The trailhead is located far back past the playing fields at Long Park. When I do the trail, I park at the front parking lot and jog to the trail behind the cell tower and this, combined with the loop, makes for a pretty good total distance. There are some muddy spots if there has been rain, and a couple steep grades. I would not bring a jogging stroller.

Had a great time walking the trail. Some parts are a little overgrown but still passable. Creek crossings, road crossings, animals, and plant life were awesome. Fun trail!

We did the 7 mile loop. It is covered by trees most of the way, which is nice for Virginia summer weather. Very little elevation.

In every season this trail is absolutely stunning. I enjoy this trail the most during Autumn season.

This was a nice easy walk to the top of waterfalls. it gets a little rocky so I suggest wearing sneakers not sandals. All and all a nice walk with pretty waterfalls.

we loved it very much. We went there on Saturday morning. we came across several people and 8 horses

I went through on a Monday morning around 6:30 am. No one around until I was on my way out. Nice loop. Beautiful scenery and sounds of the falls.

Excellent hiking trip. Moderate is a good description. There were some challenging spots, but once you get to the top it’s definitely worth it! It was my first hiking trip in years and we to 5 kids ages 5-8.

well traveled hike. a lot of foot traffic. easy down. moderate up.

This is such a beautiful hike. Its fun going down it and it only takes like 15-20mins but once you’re ready to head back up its a bit of a climb. However it is really beautiful. The water fall goes all the way to the bottom right before the Rose River trail starts. Its a must see.

Nice *easy* gravel/sand trail on *pedal assisted bikes* as we are not fit & are getting back into biking (you must pedal but there are 3 levels of assistance while pedaling). Could be a bit muddy if its rained. It would be much nicer if they had trail maps at entrance points with milage charts showing how far it is from "here" to "there" Cell networks are unavailable for the majority of the trail. You need to know ahead of time how far your destination is & have a mileage counter & downloaded map. Did not find any shuttles in early August. It would be another bonus allowing you to ride/walk to a destination-have lunch & take yourself/ bikes back to your parking area.
