A little crowded on weekends and you have to watch for bikes. Otherwise, a nice hike in the middle of Richmond.

we loved the first half of this trail - did all 8 miles of it and the view from the top is incredible. we did get a little turned around on the way down the mountain and started following the road - definitely not a hike for the weak of heart!! saw lots of little critters too :)

Great trail. The difficult run section can be a bit overgrow at times, but it's alot of fun and not to difficult. Saw some snakes by the river. The great falls portion is always a blast, beautiful scenery but a tad bit harder.

Really good work out. We walked it clockwise, as another hiker mentioned, and really enjoyed it.

Have done some combination of this trail and the others in the park a few times. It's pretty hard to get lost, as you have a general sense of where you are from the water. Definitely easy going and offers several points to sit by the water and wade in if you choose. I love bringing my chocolate lab and letting her play fetch in the water.

Paved road, people were walking and biking. Historic spots to check out too.

My kids who are 4, 7, and 9 did great on this hike. The hike (which is at the left of the parking lot, yellow blaze) starts off quite utility-road-like but then turns slightly rocky as it goes downhill with several interesting rock formations to the left side. The path then gets softer and seems that it in rain it would have a rivulet down one side of it. The sound of the waterfall got louder as we walked, building anticipation. It was quite an impressive series of small falls dropping into each other given the ease of getting there. The path after the falls did not hold the kids' interest so we headed back. Other hikers said that the path eventually meets the creek again but we had "seen the best of it". There was lots of VA native flora along the way for the interested eye as well as butterflies, a water snake, and a toad.

Decent trail with not much traffic. A bit of horse poop and some parts were narrow which is the only places I crossed paths with horses. I enjoyed it and then sat and enjoyed the water view after.

Great trail! Get there early on the weekend to park in the lot and to avoid the crowds. Lots of bikes on the trail but all were courteous on the tighter sections of the trail.

Lots of ticks. Check yourself well.

Enjoyed the company, but it had very narrow trails. I couldn’t have my dog on a leash and ride my bike without one of us getting squished.

Fue una caminata muy agradable, el clima la vegetación muy armoniosa, los senderos bien marcados, hay algo q no me gusto mucho y es que en los senderos generalmente había popo de caballo que era realmente desagradable.

Nice to see the trails opening back up from Covid. Walk to waterfall (about .6 miles) down was nice as is the waterfall. Beyond that it was a nice walk. End of trail is just into a road with houses so it was a nice walk for the exercise but don’t feel bad about just seeing the waterfall and returning.

Try to arrive around 10, as the gates are closed before then. BEAUTIFUL hike! Lots of spots for my pup to play in the water and go swimming. A few rocky scrambles. Be sure to have the map handy as there are a few spots that the yellow markers aren’t very clear. Lots of sweet spots to check out the Potomac, small waterfalls, and other gorgeous views. Will definitely be returning!

Nice trail, we did a piece of it from the regional airport road heading east for a couple of miles. Actually goes along a street road for a section, so seems more fun on a bike than on foot. And since it was a hot day, we were eager to find more shade than we could in that section. First part was paved, then the actually street road, and then we went in to a soft trail. It was lovely; our only problem was ticks!

A really nice day to the top! Lots of green, but if you’re looking for the flowers they aren’t quite there yet. Small buds are just starting to peek out. Definitely a few muddy spots and no view at the summit. But the weather was perfect and the different terrain was fun. Saw a bunch of people petting the wild ponies (big no, people). One foolish lady went up to a mother and her foal and ended up getting kicked. Then her husband proceeded to try and divert the charging pony by using his trekking poles against the animal. Come on! Stop invading their space and listen to the rangers.

Really nice trail, took our pups....they loved it. But no markings, no trailhead sign and the mapped route here isn’t accurate, but stay on a trail and you’ll eventually find your way back we’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful day at Lake Anna! The trail is well marked, saw lots of frogs and ferns and beauty everywhere!
