Not great, the view from the field halfway up is better. Some cute tractor seats at the top. Definitely better hikes in the park

Nice easy hike...

Nice loop, a moderate climb to the pinnacle and good views at the top.

only bad think was the rain and it was nuts. saw awesome wildlife.

This trail is a very easy and out and back hike. It does have one pretty meadow about halfway through the hike with a very pretty overview but the rest of this hike is just to a pile a of rocks people have stacked and that is it. It’s easy if you’re looking for a quick hike and nothing else but not much to it. However the view at the meadow truly does make it worth it.

Great trail. Going in at the parking area I got closer to 11 miles than what AllTrails says. Great scenery. There are a few stream crossing. Using stones and downed trees its not a problem for an adult with decent balance or someone who doesn't mind getting wet.

Straight up and straight down, not much to see except towers at the top, though the view through the power line trail is pretty nice. There’s a field about half way up that had a better view than the top.

Nice, easy hike with a lovely view at the top. The actual summit is not 1.35 miles from the parking area, probably about half that.

Parked at Beagle Gap parking area. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. Be careful at a couple of points where another trail breaks off - just look for the white blazes and you're good.

Final view was pretty with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. The trail wasn't steep not very rocky - but there was one area of switchback to keep it interesting. Lots of shade until you get to the top.

The trail was well marked so easy to follow.

Didn't really love this trail. Not much of a "payoff" at the top where the radio/radar towers are. There was a nicer vantage point halfway up - an unmarked trail opens up on a field that was nice.

The trail itself was well marked and easily identified.

I did not see it mentioned (I could have missed it) but you should park at Beagle Gap parking area and cross the street.

I love this little outing ! Of course it is a section of the AT so you can go further then the summit. Great place to take kids ! Easy gradual hill. When getting to the grassy calf mountain summit, it's a nice little place to have a picnic. If you go further , the calf mountain shelter is a total of 2.2 miles from the parking area. It's nice to see. Also if you pay attention while going towards the shelter, maybe about 1/2 mile or less, on your right, you will see a big old old oak tree, then further from it , another one , which is broken up a bit. Also notice all the old apple trees when you first start this trail from the parking area. Some are in the field when you are first ascending upwards towards the woods and then some are along the trail . Lots of bee balm grows in the field also! I love this trail ! Also you will notice a stone fence meandering across this trail a couple of times! Love it!

Very isolated i only saw other people when i branched off to do turks mountain but the whole 8.1 seen 1 other hiker it was amazing so quiet and peaceful

Easy hike but through some nice woods and a nice scenic view at the top

Nice little hike to a valley at the summit. View from the top is nice, lots of butterflies and wild flowers (not sure when peak bloom is). Good hike for all skill levels.

Hiked on 16 July 2017. Nice hike to summit. On way back down encountered a very large adult black bear accompanied by a juvenile black bear about 50 yards before trail left the woods and opened into the meadow above parking area.

Good hike with plenty of variety and pretty quiet until joining AT. Well signed too

It's a fun, short little hike. Good for families and pets who might get tired out easily.

Great hike. Turk Mountain Summit is worth the extra couple of miles.

We had a pleasant hike from the Beagle Gap parking lot at MP 99.5 to the summit of calf mountain. There were port-o-pots at the parking area. The trail starts in a meadow area, with remnants of an old apple orchard, and the heads into the woods. There is a good view to the east at the top.

This is a great trail for families and children. The grade is gradual and trail offers decent views of Beagle Gap. We hiked late winter and while the weather was fantastic the trail was very muddy. It is a well-worn path due to the amount of traffic and tends to be more like a swamp in some spots. The summit was not rocky like most of the Shenandoah NP summits. It was more like a large meadow. It was perfect for letting the kids run and explore. Would make a great picnic spot. We will hike this one again in the future.

Great spot for a quick lunch or a hike to the Meadow to study.

First half is a good somewhat easy hike. Not for little kids or people having trouble with inclines. Was a nice outing. Good for people who aren't big hikers.

Nice easy trail - only about 3/4 miles to the view at the summit, which is in a nice meadow. Not sure what the 2.2 miles they talk about is. We kept on the trail until the highest elevation (another 3/4 miles or so) but it was in the middle of the woods and headed down and back towards Skyline Drive after that. But all in all it was a nice hike with lots of plant and insects (butterflies etc) and a few critters to boot. Good hike for small kids.

Just a few miles from I-64. Great day hike. Just a couple of miles of hiking. But this one has nice inclines in a couple spots. Beautiful views and meadows. Worth an hour or so.

Easy walk though it is straight up hill to radio towers. There are a couple of tractor seats sunk in the ground at the summit. Quirky and quick and on the AT.

This is a fun trail, light trail with one moderate incline before crossing over the AT. The entry at Beagle Gap leaves you nested inside of a beautiful, cleared area with fantastic panoramas. There are many old apple, peach and pear trees along the trail and in the meadows surrounding the entry. Bring the dog, some lunch and get into some wandering. After you cross the AT, the trail opens up into some amazing old growth overgrown meadow areas. Enjoy!
