Great place to walk, run or cycle.

Not a bad hike, trail can be a little hard to follow and further down there are lots of down trees. I like the fact that you can make this hike as easy or as challenging as you like

Awesome trail one of the best in the Fredericksburg area. Lots of different terrain and wildlife. Would be great for mountain biking. Long enough to give you a great work out yet easy enough to keep it fun.

Lost of history on this trail and can be looped together with the Mary Highlights trail. Mostly on hard surfaces and is accessible by strollers and wheelchairs.

Another historical walk through history. Accessible by all. Well maintained and mostly on hard surfaces so strollers and wheelchairs shouldn’t be a problem.

Beautiful, especially the Fredericksburg National Cemetery. Lucky for me it’s an easy trail- I’m really out of shape!

Follow the Canal Path signs uphill. Don’t quit, you’re almost to a dead end at Gordon W Shelton Boulevard. Frustrating.

Short hike on one of the deadliest sites at the Civil War Battle of Fredericksburg. On the easy side of moderate due to short length and gradual inclines. Interpretive signs help you imagine the battle on these grounds.

Not bad, easy to get to, a bit of traffic noise at places

A good one to go on during the colder months, though we didn't see much in the way of wildlife. Fairly easy.

I’m a newbie & gearing up for Old Rag Mountain for my birthday in October. This is nice & easy & close to my work. Beautiful day to be out at lunch. Will definitely do this one again, but looking forward to some of the others around the ‘Burg.

It's part of the Sunken Road Trail.

It's more of a walk than a hike for sure. Lot's of history on and around the trail. There is actually a section of the original wall that the Confederates were behind when they were firing downhill. The trail allows you to access the cemetery that has many union headstones in it. Stop by the visitor's center located at the start of the trail. They have a short film to watch about the battle that took place there with information that you won't find in biased history books even though it is hard to deny the Confederate victory. There is a museum right beside the visitor center. The park rangers are also helpful and there is no entrance fee to either site.

This is a four for history and learning and a two for exercise, so a three overall. This is a nice walk that is easy to do.

a little overgrown and somewhat challenging to navigate the trail due to leaves covering the path. Still really enjoyed the trails. can't wait to come back in the spring

Great trail!! Very informative and historical. If you’re into the Civil War this is a must. Took my kids along, very flat and easy for family activities. Trail was well marked clean and maintained.

not too bad of a trail for my first hike. definitely looking forward to my next adventure

A great dirt trail along the river. There are a few places ideal to take a break and wade in the river or just sit on the larger rocks.

20 degrees and snow on the ground. Love this hike and want to do it in the summer.

A lot of easy and flat but also some more technical sections with a couple of climbs.

Mostly bikers on narrow trail. Not an official trail. Not markers or signs (other than no trespassing).

Easy and scenic hiking for two amateurs. Missed most of the fall foliage but still beautiful.

Very short trail. Paved and fully shaded, with a few benches along the way. It is uphill all the way. At the top is a few cannons (cannon?) and a display about Lee and his position. The view would be spectacular (and more demonstrative of why Lee used it) if they (whoever "they" are) would cut down all of the trees that have grown there (see my photos).

nice and clean trail. A lot of fellow runners on the trail. Trail is all paved which through me off a bit, but very nice loop with nice views.

Walked it with my 6 year old and my three year old in about 2.5 hours (including a stop at Hardee's for some OJ and plenty of pictures). It was just a bit too long for them in the heat today, but on a cooler day, I think they would have been fine. We'll definitely do it again soon.

Beautiful scenery!

The trail is nice, scenic, and isn't plainly flat. The major issue for me after running the trail twice is that my garmin GPS training watch doesn't get very good signal in the trees. An 8-minute mile pace can easily turn into an 11-min mile pace because of the heavy vegetation.
