Great place to walk, run or cycle.

Not a bad hike, trail can be a little hard to follow and further down there are lots of down trees. I like the fact that you can make this hike as easy or as challenging as you like

Awesome trail one of the best in the Fredericksburg area. Lots of different terrain and wildlife. Would be great for mountain biking. Long enough to give you a great work out yet easy enough to keep it fun.

Not bad, easy to get to, a bit of traffic noise at places

A good one to go on during the colder months, though we didn't see much in the way of wildlife. Fairly easy.

This is a four for history and learning and a two for exercise, so a three overall. This is a nice walk that is easy to do.

a little overgrown and somewhat challenging to navigate the trail due to leaves covering the path. Still really enjoyed the trails. can't wait to come back in the spring

Great trail!! Very informative and historical. If you’re into the Civil War this is a must. Took my kids along, very flat and easy for family activities. Trail was well marked clean and maintained.

not too bad of a trail for my first hike. definitely looking forward to my next adventure

A great dirt trail along the river. There are a few places ideal to take a break and wade in the river or just sit on the larger rocks.

20 degrees and snow on the ground. Love this hike and want to do it in the summer.

A lot of easy and flat but also some more technical sections with a couple of climbs.

Mostly bikers on narrow trail. Not an official trail. Not markers or signs (other than no trespassing).

Easy and scenic hiking for two amateurs. Missed most of the fall foliage but still beautiful.

The trail is nice, scenic, and isn't plainly flat. The major issue for me after running the trail twice is that my garmin GPS training watch doesn't get very good signal in the trees. An 8-minute mile pace can easily turn into an 11-min mile pace because of the heavy vegetation.

Went on the Riverview trail which gets very narrow close to the water, but pretty views.

Overgrown and no views from what we seen. Everything was blocked from trees

Very disappointed. Came to hike today (Tuesday) only to find that the trail is CLOSED on TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY.

Lots of water access..lots of tree shade in late spring/early summer..fun hike, a bit on the easy side for us, there are some up and down slopes, not too strenuous..beautiful lake with running stream! Great time! Would recommend. (FYI the fishing bank trail was a bit muddy and narrow in spots)

Nicely marked, lots of shade, & access to the river.

Wonderful time spent on the Rappahannock River Trail. We did the asphalt loop and then ventured off down the hard packed gravel road along side of the Virginia Outdoor Center to the trail head. We were able to squeeze out 10.42 miles in just a few hours and we didn't even hit all the trails. Very well maintained trails that we rode and enjoyed every moment! They had gotten a little rain the night before but it was manageable. Kudos to those who maintain this system because it's a gem! We'll be back...Thanks

Fun trail. make sure to read other reviews on where to find the entrance but a nice trail to walk. Called for rain so very little traffic for us. Nice washed out rocks to sit on along the river. Def will be my local trail to hit on the reg.

Nice hiking trail.

Great paved trail with opportunities to go off into unpaved trail areas. Beautiful views of the river on the south side of the bridge where the current is much stronger. Great trail my kids enjoy and the location is wonderful for families with Old Mill Park nearby.

Easy way to get away from it all as it's close to downtown. Very little incline unless you break into the woods at the far west end, so great for people with bad knees. Path will be mostly muddy with slight rain in area.

I've done this trail a handful of times and I love the sound of the river makes this feel like you're further away from town.

The trail has quite a few bikers and it gets narrow at times, so beware.

For the full experience, start out by parking in small parking lot at corner of Fall Hill and Normandy. There is a paved path that takes you under Fall Hill road where you can walk over to tubing/kayak company. Stay on gravel/dirt road on left side of those businesses for about a half mile with the canal water on your left. You will go through some gates made of one bar and hit the trail portion at a circular clearing.
