Great trail if you want a workout and it’s well marked. It’s straight up the whole way and rocky, but the view at the top is so worth it. There is a fee when you get to the parking lot as it’s apart of Shannondoah Woods. When you park, you walk a bit up the road before the trail begins and people live there, so there are no other places to park. It was a gorgeous fall day and the leaves were still changing.

Great hike, nice incline up, then a rock scramble at the top. With this trail, you reverse it and and do the rock scramble again. It is a workout for sure and be prepared to use your upper body. It was very crowded yesterday (most weekends are in fall) but it makes for large back ups at the scramble. Especially if you are going opposite of the traditional traffic on your way back. Overall worth it and a ton or fun!

One of best time to hick this trail, top of the mountain have 300 degree view with full of color. 2400 feet hick in 1.6 mile. Real workout in short distance. Two choices to hick one is slowly hick with 2.6 mile other sudden hick with 1.6 mile. I like the shortest rout and enjoy warm stones in the top

Same parking lot as Old Rag. Makes it difficult to find parking. Fewer views than Old Rag, but soooo many fewer people. Makes it a pretty nice trail in my mind.

One of my favorite Shenadoah trails! Not too difficult, quiet, and great scenery.

Trail is not used much, so if your looking for a little solitude, then this is good. Trail is maintained very well, although no views. This trail uses Old Rag parking and you will need to pay the entrance fee. also, plan on being at parking lot very early as it will fill up quickly on weekends.

Absolutely loved it! This hike was sweet! Just a lil tough on the knees, but still worth the journey!

Nice in and out trail. Mostly along the creek. 3-4 easy crossings with a few good swimming holes. General upward grade to cabin.

This was a really strenuous hike! I didn’t see a single person on the trail, which was fine because a)I was moving really slowly and b) the trail is very narrow. It’s a long, steep trail, the route mapped on alltrails is somewhat straightened out compared to the actual curves and switchbacks. One thing to note, about halfway down on the descent, the blazes suddenly switch to yellow. You’ll see a few yellow blazes before one random blue one, then back to yellow.

If you want to avoid the throngs of Old Rag hikers, this is a nice alternative trail. No views really, but the trail is often close to a stream. About 10% of this trail is actually hard, the remainder I would rate easy to moderate.

Robertson mountain is horribly steep, so the mediocre views at the top aren't worth it.

We went up Robertson and came down Corbin. That was really tough. 4 miles of a serious ascent. We had the view all to ourselves at the top. Enjoyed the stream crossings on Corbin. Will do again...just not soon.

Nice.

been up here several times. Love it. Much less traffic than old rag but no fun rock scrambles. One side is steep - about the steepest significant ascent you'll find in Shenandoah.

Crowded.

A nice break from the crowds on Old Rag. Given that my knees hate downhills, I chose the go up the steep way and return via Corbin Hollow. It was a tough trip up in that direction. but then you get a nice break at the one view point at the top. Spend some time there because that's it for views. Although the rewards are limited in terms of views, for those that value the solitude, it is great!

Loved it, I’d do it again. It’s super private and not crowded at all!

Great trail, tried it because it allowed dogs... not a lot of people on the trail, but those I encountered were super nice. I will try again in a few weeks to see how the leaves turn out. First hiking trail in Virginia !

Nice trail with consistent challenging terrain. Not the best views along the way, but you’re rewarded in other ways such as having the trail to yourself. With Old Rag entry in the same area, it is a much less traveled trail. Enjoy!

Just hiked this trail today in an inch of slushy snow. The first 4 or so miles were pretty steep and challenging. After that it was a breeze. I’d say this one is on the tougher side for Shenandoah N.P. Certainly moreso than it’s neighbor Old Rag.

Beautiful trail! We hiked this in december and there was some snow on the ground, a lovely hike with rocks and trails, dogs are allowed, not too heavily trafficked and a beautiful view from the top!!

Tough trail with killer views , hiked up old rag after from the bridle trail and this one is tougher . Lots of crunchy leaves so bring poles ! Make sure to check out the trails near and at the top with some good view points .

Hiked Robertson mountain trail yesterday but the clouds never cleared up to enjoy the view.
