Potentially a very beautiful trail with convenient access. The trail had trash everywhere and orb weaver webs across it were constant, which required me to wave a stick out in front of me for the hike. Perhap recent heavy rains brought the trash down from elsewhere and resulted in little recent use, thus the spiderwebs. Regardless, it wasn't as pleasant as it should have been.

I have been road biking this with my mountain bike for about 6 weeks now and it dosen't get any better. Round trip puts it about 11 miles...14 if you go around the closed construction area. At the boat ramp end there is also a paved area that has a very challenging hill grade if your up to it. They now have "Zagster" bikes for rent at 3 locations and are very popular. Have also tried all the mtb trails connected and they are awsome. Hopefully in the near future they will have the trail loop to the other side of the river.

I walk and jog this trail often. It is wide and paved with no real steep inclines. There are water fountains and restrooms located near the Danville Public Works building, and further down near the Dan Daniel Memorial Park. The trail is fairly well-maintained. You will experience wildlife on this trail: Canadian geese, ducks, turtles and tortoises, black vultures, buzzards, and in warmer weather you can expect to see a snake here and there. This is a very easy trail to walk or bike.

It would be a better trail if people stopped littering, vandalizing the bridges and overlooks with childish graffiti and picked up their dog's poop when he takes a dump in the middle of the pathway.

A 7.5 mile scenic pathway that follows the north bank of the Dan River. The trail passes through parks and by several bridges, one of which (an old restored railroad bridge) connects to historic downtown Danville (the last capital of the Confederate States of America after Richmond fell). I started my enjoyable walk in Dan Daniel Memorial Park and traveled west for almost two miles before returning. It is also a great trail for bird watching by the river. I saw lots of geese and ducks along the way.
