I will be back to this hike. The trail is up hill, down hill, cross thru water, a lot of the trail is walking on rocks not just dirt.

Great overall trail. It is not a hard incline at all, which would be perfect for a more casual hike or for beginners looking to enjoy nature. I would recommend some type of boot or hard sole shoe though. The path is wide, but ranges from gravel, to loose rocks, which can be hard on the feet. Three stream crossings as well, but all have rock bridges to help keep the feet semi dry.

Great trail for waterfalls. We took the kids 7, 10, 12 and it was fun on the way down, it has a lot of shade and a mountain spring if you’re running low on water on the way back up. We took our time on the way back up which was a little tough but once at the car they all said it was a lot of fun.

Fun trail! Rocky in bits but nothing you can't step over. The very end is a boulder scramble but the view is more than worth it!

Great trail seen rattlesnake and momma bear with 2 cubs she was very docile as many hikers passed by.

Well groomed trail that goes down and is a doozy coming back up. This was my second hike for the day so my legs were pretty cooked on the return. Nice waterfalls and stream.

Finding the trail head was slightly challenging for an “out of towner” not used to the way VA marks some of its trailheads. The AllTrails directions perfectly brought us to the parking lot, but there are multiple trailheads of if looking to hike Turk Mtn make sure you go to the head across the road, and veer left. Afterwards it is easy to follow the trail. Only complaint was it was very buggy and the trail was slightly overgrown. Would be hard to pass other hikers or large groups on a busy day. Downside was we were .1 from the summit before encountering a bear and decided it was best to turn back. Absolutely plan on coming back another time (maybe earlier on a weekend) so that we won’t be the only hikers on the trail, and hopefully less chance of running into a bears way. Trail is easy and quick to the top, if only we had been able to make it all the way.

Nice hike with plenty of cascades. Light traffic, but I started at 5pm. See full hike report at: https://travel2walk.com/2019/06/25/virginia-hikes-jones-run-doyles-river-loop-june-16-2019/

all downhill to the falls and then straight uphill on the way back which is a kicker! the falls are nice to dip your feet in or wade a bit.

Hike down wasn’t super eventful. Saw a bear, so that was cool. Fantastic falls. Insanely steep hike back up.

BEAUTIFUL WATERFALLS...holy cow was the last 450 yards back to the jeep a dozy!

Decent trail. Decent view. Lots of elevation gain but it makes the walk back easy.

Just posting to let everyone know, this trail is dog friendly as long as they are leashed.

There are three beautiful waterfalls on this trail. We didn't hike the full distance, but we made it to the lower falls. Definitely worth the hike, but I am surprised this is rated moderate and not hard. We had to make several stops on the return hike since it's strenuous and steep at times.

easy hike great swimming spots

Great trail for beginners

This is a beautiful hike with everything: waterfalls, running water, places to swim and soak, views, and a soft trail that’s not too technical/rocky. One of my favorite... BUT...if anyone is hiking this trail TODAY...if you find a LOWA hiking boot in the parking lot, I’d surely appreciate if you could give it to David Wyant at Wyant’s general store in White Hall (you have to pass the store on the way out)... somehow left 1 hiking boot there...

Good waterfalls, steep back up.

Great quick hike, a good little workout since it's all uphill! I love heading to this spot for an early hike with the dog, it's a great feeling to be up there and have the place to yourself.

Hiked this trail on May 24th with my wife. We went out fairly early so there weren't too many others on the trail. The water level was fairly low but we still got wet feet at several of the creek crossings. Two good swimming holes were very inviting but the water was naturally cold. One at the base of the falls and one along the way. Saw several small brown snakes and one garter snake along the trail and amongst the rocks by the water. This is a very nice, easy hike.

On 5/23, we did the Jones Run to Doyle to Brown’s Gap to AT loop (about 7.5 miles in 4.5 hours). Having a detailed map was essential, we almost got lost when we missed the trail crossing the river near the Doyle Fork. Overall, loved the hike. The waterfalls and grottos were beautiful. It was quite buggy, mostly gnats. The grass on the Brown’s Gap horse trail was tall, probably hosting ticks. But we were well-prepared and ended up loving the hike!
