Definitely would have rated this moderate. You go down 400 feet before an uphill incline of that and more. Lots of rocks on the trail and the last bit involves climbing over giant rocks. Still I beautiful view though.

love the waterfalls.

Beautiful after Labor Day hike, we started at the forest road out to Doyle's River and the around to Jones Run for a complete loop.

Great hike but very crowded, crossed the creek 3 times water low had no problem. The falls at the end were very pretty!

Nice hike watch for bears.. seen bear poop!

Excellent way to burn some calories and replace with great beer at local breweries

Fun waterfall hike. Some of the river crossings will result in wet feet so next time I do this will bring water shoes. Go early to avoid crowds.

This trail is all downhill one way to get to the falls, which obviously means it’s all uphill on the way back. The trail itself is wide and easily traversable, and the falls make the hike worth it. For those with kids, remember that the trip back up the trail is much more strenuous than the way down. My five year-old, an “easy” hike veteran, had difficulty in the way back up this trail and I had to give her a ride on my shoulders for most of the way back up. Great trail though, with beautiful scenery and awesome falls to view and play in.

Great view at the end. Big boulders and rock field at top where the viewing is from. Definitely not an easy traverse at the top, especially for pets, kids, etc.

We recommend starting at the Jones Run Trailhead and extending your hike to a portion of the Doyles River Trail to see both the upper and lower falls there. Return to Skyline Drive using the Brown's Gap Road trail (a very gentle climb compared to the Jones Run trail) and connect back to the Jones Run Trailhead using a portion of the AT.
This loop is a little over 6 miles.
This is one of the best hikes we have done in a long time. There were very few people on the trail (we passed 5 in 5 hours) and the recent heavy rains had made all of the falls spectacular. We even saw a bear (very close!) on the Brown's Gap Road/Trail. Not too buggy.

Tons of falls and trail. A nice 6.5 in out. Great woodland views. Water all along the mileage.

Did the full loop on the AT, it's about 6.5miles. Went clockwise to get the AT finished first. Went after a few days of rain so all the falls we're beautiful. You do have to cross some steams and wet areas, best to wear good traction shoes.

Fun river crossings and a easy hike up and back. I recommend going in the mornings to beat the crowds.

Fun hike! Beautiful scenery. The boulders at the top are challenging to younger hikers. I would rate this as moderate for young hikers.

It was in the middle of a suburban neighborhood and was not a loop. You heard kids playing, lawnmowers....etc. It was not what I was expecting.

Great hike. Our dogs loved crossing the water many times.

Nice day hike to lovely falls at the top. Several rock crossings may leave you with wet boots! Or wear your swimsuit and take a dip.

It’s a fairly easy hike and the views are great! I will say the last 1000ft are fairly rocky and might be tedious for anyone with bad or weak knees. The bugs are also getting bad up toward the top so I highly recommend some bug spray!

It was a good hike. The falls were not that impressive the day I went because it hadn't rained in a while but other hikers I spoke to that day said when it's been raining, the falls are great.

Really nice hike for a family of four with a 9 and 5 year old in tow.

Nice fun trail with awesome scenery.

Good trail. Well maintained. Good waterfall views

This trail was a lot of fun for an out and back trial. There are a couple waterfalls with lots of stream and cascade views. Fairly flat and anyone of any physical ability could do it. I will probably be doing this one again as well.

A good hike to do on a hot day. It was in the 90's but next to the river and in the shade, it was very cool. A nice short hike to swimming holes and enough area that it doesn't feel too crowded.

Such a beautiful trail... fun for all the family

Beautiful waterfalls, hike back up was challenging!

Easy quick hike. The climb back is steep so be prepared to work hard after you’ve relaxed by the falls. We managed our way onto the boulders right by the base of the waterfall. Be careful its slippery but totally worth it.

We hiked this in the rain, made it a little more challenging but not impossible at all. First waterfall hike for the granddaughter and with recent heavy rains the falls were spectacular to say the least and she had a blast. True hiker for only being 5 years old. Will return when weather is better, water levels are lower and we can enjoy wading in the water. Highly recommend the hike to families with children, as they will sleep well on the car ride home.

before you make the final right turn near the top there are some boulders on the left that offer a good view and some fun climbing. lots more room here than at the top so an ideal spit for lunch.
