Decent trail, not a lot of space at the overlook though. Probably would have rated the trail higher but the summit was too rocky for my dog to walk around on. Easy hike though if your looking for something quick and easy.

Nice quick hike.. great views from the summit

Definitely would have rated this moderate. You go down 400 feet before an uphill incline of that and more. Lots of rocks on the trail and the last bit involves climbing over giant rocks. Still I beautiful view though.

Less than impressive, that’s all I can honestly say.... The long ness of the hike was expected but not the challenge of it, it was very rocky (which we weren’t prepared for shoe wise) and poorly marked making it a hard trail to follow. The water fall was less than remarkable and the water hole you were supposed to swim in was small and crowded, oh and ps there was no rope swing which very much was probably the most upsetting part of the whole trip.

Hiked this about a month ago. We hiked for quite sometime and never came to a peak but could hear the cars. I kept track with my phone and the swimming hole is about 1/3 of the way up. I would be careful as either my husband, myself or our pups stepped on a wasps nest and had a nasty encounter with a lot of them.

Fun hike! Beautiful scenery. The boulders at the top are challenging to younger hikers. I would rate this as moderate for young hikers.

It’s a fairly easy hike and the views are great! I will say the last 1000ft are fairly rocky and might be tedious for anyone with bad or weak knees. The bugs are also getting bad up toward the top so I highly recommend some bug spray!

before you make the final right turn near the top there are some boulders on the left that offer a good view and some fun climbing. lots more room here than at the top so an ideal spit for lunch.

Great hike. Loved that it wasn't heavily travelled. Fun rocks to climb on and sit on at the top. Great views!

I love this trail, but it is not that easy, not great for kids or older folks. Lovely views the entire hike up during winter/early spring and amazing views all the way around from the top. Very rocky toward the top.

Great hike with my dog. Highly recommend

I have hiked this many times! I highly recommend it and to get water hikers!

Great trail for family and friends--the wide, steady ascent allows for conversation without too much effort. Yet at the end, you've hiked all the way up to the ridge, so it's a significant achievement. The constant presence of water keeps the trail pretty, but the crossings can cause a few challenges. This trail has a great swimming hole, complete with rope swing. Dog friendly.

More of a moderate then easy hike for kids. Otherwise great hike!

We took the AT from Blackrock Summit parking area to the left on the Rockytop Trail and then another left toward Austin Mountain as we were doing the complete ridge loop down to the fire road and back up Furnace Mountain. The Rockytop portion of the trail [and Lewis Mountain "may" be a bit better] was nice walk in the woods at first and then we went along the left ridge through the rockpiles, which are pretty cool, and then down to the fire road. Views are ok, and rockpiles are a neat feature to pick your way through, but there are better trails nearby with more bang for your effort.

Nice little hike. Nice views and some opportunity for scrambling before the end of the trail. Moderately crowded on nice weekend days. Took about 2 hours up and back.

Two beautiful views at the end; short but challenging hike.

Beautiful hike, loose rocks and very rocky on the last incline. Beautiful view on the way up, and once you reach the top. Enjoyed this hike!

Hike starts on the opposite side of skyline drive from the parking lot. Loose rocks on the incline. View from summit is very nice, even on an overcast day. My father and I enjoyed this hike a lot!

Awesome views, dog-friendly - saw several dogs on the trail. Rocks at the top make for a fun little scramble.

Pretty good trail with a lot of terrain. Also there are a bunch of other trails you can take along the way if you're feeling adventurous!

That 2nd mile uphill along the rocky trail with no breeze on a humid day...whew! The payoff out along the rocks past the trail post...worth it! The views and the breeze were welcomed with open arms. The mountain laurel were in peak bloom and the viburnum were on their way. I also saw a lot of Indian Pipe poking their heads up. This area will be ready for blueberry picking in several weeks. Since this was a shorter hike, we drove up to BlackRock Summit Trail for additional 1.6 miles and amazing views!

Great hike. Might be challenging for new hikers due to the incline but the view at the top is spectacular.
