Coming from south there is a very similar trailhead and parking lot. Make sure you start at the “summit” parking lot else you can walk a couple of miles on the east side and the same distance or more to the west — none of which have a view or cross the AT!

Amazing view from the top. Me and my 3 year old did it easily in just under an hour. Don’t climb the rocks, the official guide book states this will kill hundreds of
Years of lichen on the rocks with just one footstep! Highly recommend.

Beautiful view and very easy hiking

Gorgeous 360 views at the top of the summit. I did climb up the rocks to get to the very top

Short and easy. Climb on and To the top of the talus boulder field for summit views. My kids (10 and 13) did it to get out of the car and stretch out legs on our way deeper into Shenandoah and they loved it.

Fun river crossings and a easy hike up and back. I recommend going in the mornings to beat the crowds.

Fun hike! Beautiful scenery. The boulders at the top are challenging to younger hikers. I would rate this as moderate for young hikers.

Great hike. Our dogs loved crossing the water many times.

Nice day hike to lovely falls at the top. Several rock crossings may leave you with wet boots! Or wear your swimsuit and take a dip.

It’s a fairly easy hike and the views are great! I will say the last 1000ft are fairly rocky and might be tedious for anyone with bad or weak knees. The bugs are also getting bad up toward the top so I highly recommend some bug spray!

Great view at summit and rewarding for a short hike. Fair amount of traffic.

Really nice hike for a family of four with a 9 and 5 year old in tow.

Nice fun trail with awesome scenery.

Good trail. Well maintained. Good waterfall views

This trail was a lot of fun for an out and back trial. There are a couple waterfalls with lots of stream and cascade views. Fairly flat and anyone of any physical ability could do it. I will probably be doing this one again as well.

A good hike to do on a hot day. It was in the 90's but next to the river and in the shade, it was very cool. A nice short hike to swimming holes and enough area that it doesn't feel too crowded.

Such a beautiful trail... fun for all the family

Beautiful waterfalls, hike back up was challenging!

before you make the final right turn near the top there are some boulders on the left that offer a good view and some fun climbing. lots more room here than at the top so an ideal spit for lunch.

Beautiful waterfall hike in early May. Lots of water running over falls. Be prepared for a steady uphill climb on the return. Hiking poles recommended! Hiked on a hot day temps in mid 80’s with very little shade or breeze as the leaves hadn’tcome out yet. Very buggy. Wear bug spray !!!

The beauty of this trail is unsurpassed. You hike through a forest with the river by your side. There are 3 river crossings. The third one was high (due to recent rains) so we removed our boots. The waterfall at the end of this hike was spectacular.

One of our favorites! A lot to see along the way; rivers, swimming holes, old dwellings. Very dog and kid friendly. Easy to spend a half day exploring.

It was a surprisingly great trail that has a rock scramble that allows for a bit longer and less traversed hike to meet back with Trayfoot trail. Took three kids and a dog, all loved it and it was pretty easy. Hawskbill is my favorite Skyline Drive hike but this is a close second.

Great hike. Loved that it wasn't heavily travelled. Fun rocks to climb on and sit on at the top. Great views!

I love this trail, but it is not that easy, not great for kids or older folks. Lovely views the entire hike up during winter/early spring and amazing views all the way around from the top. Very rocky toward the top.

Great hike with my dog. Highly recommend
