One of the best kept secrets in the Christianburg area. Very scenic area that features water fall, creek with bridge and caves. A short hike to the scenic are, or you can take the longer hike to get adrenaline going. Kid and dog friendly! Please leave nothing behind, except foot prints!

Really confusing to find the beginning of the trail- no clear signage. Park to the left/behind the visitor center and begin at blue and yellow trail blaze, eventually yellow drops and ur on blue only, you’ll blend with the green castle gorge trail in the middle and then drop that too. Once I finally began hiking the correct trail it was pleasant, pretty views, very lightly trafficked, not too steep, there were lots of trees in the way from a fall storm and government shut down has prevented cleanup. All visitor centers are closed due to shut down, and the gates will probably close off access to the trails when it shutdown begins again (as last time I tried to enter, they were blocking my path and with no rebellious way around!)

Probably my favorite Virginia hike! Drop dead gorgeousssss! Steep and difficult on the way up, quite a workout! The view at the top is beyond worth it! Lightly-moderately trafficked when I was there. The stairs and 360 view @ top is breathtaking and made the struggle worthwhile. Easy to find trail head, sign parking and stairs begin your hike. Experience was Incredible!

Intense! Super steep and strenuous but VERY lightly trafficked (at least on the weekday I went), tough on the way up, nice views at the top but you kinda have to find a rocky overlook yourself. Saw a lot of wildlife, very clearly marked trail (can get to it behind the lodge at blueridge parkway- passed the picnic area, and passed the Polly woods ordinary trail, it starts on the left wooded area- with a sign that says flat top summit) what a workout!

Love hiking here! Gorgeous short, sweet, and steep- a definite workout! Beautiful view from the top, and any ‘Dirty Dancing’ fan will be in heaven! :) (more trafficked on weekends, summer months, and during any kind of astrological occurrence- people gather at the top so it’s noisier)

Nice paved trail. Solid option when other area trails may wash out due to weather. Has some hills but for the most part it’s mostly flat.

From the trailhead at the Visitors Center, turn L towards the mint marked Beaver Pond trail. (Sign indicates straight and L.) Follow this until it becomes the yellow and mint marked trail (part of the loop trail). This will put you on your way to Basin.

7.5 miles to the WV state-line from the glen Lyn park. The trail is in view of or on the banks of the new river the entire run - beautiful trail! Great 14-15 mi long run trail... expect to get a little muddy if it has rained any recently and do no try the trail if the river is up from heavy rains - about 1.25 miles the river will cover the trail and run against a high wall bank , it may be dangerous... just a precaution.

Nothing special and is usually washed out. Sugar Hill Loop is better and just down the road. Still a nice and peaceful walk. A decent amount of trash.

Yeah, there’s a lot of trash and graffiti. Doesn’t change the fact that it’s one of the most beautiful views in Scott County. Short but steep hike to the tower.

Was a bit muddy on the way down. Not very steep, but is uphill most of the way. A unique hike for the area.

The scenic overlook at the top is nice. The tunnel still looks massive from the top.

I love this trail. Elevation gain, views, and lots of stream crossings. Cave Falls is a marvel.

I think I I lucked out going mid week after an ice storm. Didn’t see a single other person on the trail, but did see minor bear evidence (berries and possible wet prints). Due to icy conditions many branches were down and at points it was hard to see white blazes, I would venture off trail for a few dozen yards without realizing. Trail was great though! Wonderful payoff! Lots of up and downs, rocky, sturdy boots required. Would not recommend children or pets. I got lucky with gorgeous ice covered everything

Blue trail takes you down a creek-side trail to the waterfall...you can either retrace the blue trail back to the parking lot OR take the yellow Appalachian to the white path back to the blue trail entrance. Yellow / white back to the lot is all uphill and not scenic. Highly recommend sticking to blue trail and trekking to the base of the falls. Amazing!

Camped overnight with a group of friends and had a blast. Getting up there with 40 lbs of camping gear as somebody who is only somewhat in shape was pretty difficult and required many breaks, but I imagine hiking for just the day with no gear to worry about wouldn’t be nearly as bad. The view from the top of the rock made it all worth it though, and I’ll definitely be back for more.

Nice easy hike for children or the elderly. My 4 year old loves playing on the rocks and exploring around the woods. Amazing view from the overlook.

Please do not bring your dog here. I found out the hard way that they are not allowed after driving an hour and a half to get here. Luckily, the lady I ran into who works for the conservation society was a wonderful person and let me continue the trail. Other than that, it was a wonderful trail! Absolutely beautiful scenery.

Great hike... Seemed a bit longer than it actually was. Great views and tough workout, the trail isn't as flat as it appears on the map. The AT is up and down basically the whole way from DT to Tinker Cliffs. North Mountain was my favorite part of the loop, not many people and great views along the ridge the entire way. We ended up doing this hike over 3 nights. Light is right for this trip, don't be hauling around 40lbs.
