Views of the “lake” a few times. Mostly just trees and wildlife, which was still beautiful. Not too many spiders/snakes. Not a single tick on us, which was very surprising. Very well kept trail. Cute bridges along the way. Lots of frogs! Easy to navigate and well marked. Might be a bit muddy after a rain. Overall, we enjoyed it.

My son (11) and I enjoyed this trail. We got a little mixed up and ended up on the bike only bit (Lake View Loop) but gutted it out until we regained the hiking trail. We clocked in a little over 7 miles total in 3 hours with a pause for lunch in there at the halfway mark.

Definitely will come back and maybe bring the bike out!

Shaded trail with varying terrain / elevation. Dogs enjoyed wading in the stream. Nice scenery, although was expecting it to be closer to the water. The view of the dam was the highlight.

Great trail! Some sunny spots. Best to do early morning or evening in the summertime.

The description should be changed. The first half is a fire road and the last Half of the trail is marked “bikes only”. It was easy enough to find alternatives close by.

Great trail ending at the lake. Loved it.

Not what I was expecting. Trail was longer, and didn’t get the elevation gains listed. Recommend going counter clockwise. Great if your looking to camp with family and want a variety of activities. This was long, a lot of greenery, but no spectacular views, so a little boring for a solo hike

Good trail for a moderate skilled biker and for jogging. Gradual ups and downs with manufactured hills and jumps throughout. Nice lake view too.

Nice, mostly shaded loop around Beaver Lake. Look for beaver lodge in lake. Good wildlife viewing, especially from the boardwalks. On the easy side of moderate because terrain is fairly level. Overall, best hiker-only trail at Pocahontas State Park.

It was ironically parallel to the highway, so noisy and kind of annoying. It does however eventually lead to some really good trails. Well made trail, but rather drive a minute farther to a much better trail.

I feel like the description of this trail is a little off. First the Bell Lap is the name of the trail, but it seems that this refers only to the mountain bike trail. The mountain bike trail seems very popular and they are doing significant work to expand. This one way loop trail is separate from the hiking trail. The hiking trail is a multi-use trail for hiking, less adventurous biking, horseback riding, and park vehicles. It is mostly gravel/ 2-track. It is also labeled the Loop Forest Trail in signs, although my GPS seemed to keep me pretty close to the above trail map. Over all easy quick hike with some hills (my 7 yr old had no issues and was easy for her - her hardest hike to date had been 8.5mi moderate). Nice quick hike if you just want to get out in the woods for a bit!

It is a 3.9 mile ride. The first 1.5 miles is littered with man-made mounds which will test your skill level. The second mile is along the lake with several small streams to cross. The last mile is the home stretch along the Bell lap trail.

Nice long walk

Nice open beautiful views! If you are a beginner it might feel longer then the miles posted, but it's a great workout, not too overwhelming. My family and I enjoyed it very much!

Beautiful peaceful trail

Lakeview is a bike trail, so if you start on Powhatan Trail walking you have to turn back at the Lakeview Loop.

Nice trail around the lake but did not feel like more then 2 miles, and seems to be a connector trail for the campers staying at the park or an easy way to a longer bike loop trail which is misleading on the map, we had to turn back. Also not a fan of the disconnection off the trail with the street crossings.
Forest exploration and Beaver are much better trails for walking.

The first half mile is downhill with plenty of mounds and jumps. The last part of the trail is mostly flat.

It's got your ups, your downs, your turn arounds. Nice easy short walk in the woods. Bluff over lake is great.

I'm not much of a fan of gravel stone or hiking access roads, which this trail has too much.

nice trail, well maintained and easy to follow. the trail skirted the lake in Pocahontas state park and has little elevation change. hiked in December, not much to see. there were a few boards with information but they are old and challenging to read. one overlook, a bridge over some marshy areas. didn't see much wildlife - perhaps bring binoculars for animal spotting.

Nice walk on trails under the trees. Great place to walk the dogs

I was able to hike this trail with a 7 year old and an infant. Easy walk and plenty to look at in terms of animal tracks, fallen trees, and the hidden cemetery was a good find

Nice scenery. Inclines aren't too bad. Saw 4 other people over a period of 3 hours on a weekday. Bring your hammock/tree straps and have a quiet picnic by the creek.
