Truly a great trail. Very easy and very well maintained. It was super busy but all the people and dogs were well behaved. Highly recommend.

It was a great trial at first! Let me explain, it’s very peaceful and nice trial but after following the blue arrows about 40 mins, it disappeared!! Literally could not find it so I got lost for a bit. I had to trace back the same way just to get out. I recommend walking only as there are bikers there and the trials so get narrow and tiny. Enjoy and don’t get lost!!

Decent trail through the woods in the middle of the city. Devided by a huge ditch with water you can go either direction either side up to a point. Very much shaded. Good walk.

This is nice 1/2 mile or so trail a long the water way at the locks. After your walk there is a pick nick area to eat something or just relax.

Northwest River Park is one of my favorite hiking spots in Hampton Roads! This trail is a fun loop, not strenuous, with some beautiful views of the water along the way.

The trail has a lot of roots to walk on. With uneven ground. It’s beautiful, but not an easy walk, especially with a baby strapped on you. The trail markers weren’t that easy to follow.

Much of the walk is close to the highway. Mile markers are easily spotted. Trail is an easy walk, stroller friendly. Lots of people running and walking.

Very easy trail. Did it with my son. Of course he only walked half a mile but it was very easy! Very family friendly!

Had a great walk with Cleo and she even crossed the plank bridge this time. We also came across a 5’ black snake that was shedding, I moved it to a safer place out the trail traffic.

A few bridges need to be replaced. The boards were very wobbly. Part of the trail was so muddy, we had to turn around. Directions are about 50/50. Signs could be better. Overall, this place is a hidden gem, very cool that there are a few different trails.

Great, family friendly trail but you do get a sense of being lost because it was hard to stay on the AllTrails trail. There are lots of trails at this park which made it fun to obstacle through. AllTrails needs to include all the loops in one. Some bugs, but nice and shady. A few benches throughout. It was a fun hike.

Easy, simple dirt trail around Oak Lake. Perfect for families. Lots of dogs, runners and people walking. Plenty of parking. Clean, well-maintained trail. A lot of benches to take in the beautiful scenery of the lake. Also, there are a few hidden trails if you wanted to venture from the main circle of the Lake.

This was a great little trail that I was able to experience with a very special person. We had a lot of fun seeing the terrain, turtles, crabs, and boaters during our short time there. There are a couple of elevated lookouts that added to the fun. Very easy trail, and highly recommended!

Lots of low muddy areas even after 2 dry days.

The main trail is well maintained and very quiet to walk on because of all the pine straw. I always see other people there, but it’s not too crowded. If you go in April you will see lady slippers, which apparently is a rare ground dwelling species of orchid, but they are blooming everywhere in those woods. If you keep going past the highway (where the map shows the trail looping back) you can walk for about another quarter mile, then the trail forks. The right hand path leads to a cute driftwood bench overlooking the water, and the left hand path brings you to a “bridge” which is actually just a series of wood planks in the mud. Depending on the tide I think these might actually be underwater sometimes. I once saw a man carrying his medium sized dog across but I personally would not have the balance nor the strength for that. Luckily my dog is small enough to walk across herself, as long as I am careful not to step too hard and catapult her off. If you keep walking down these boards eventually you’ll get to a real path again. There are a few fallen trees and brush piles to climb over, but most parts are not too overgrown. I went about another half mile, almost to the train bridge, but at that point I turned around because I would have been basically wading through the marsh. I would like to go back down that way with more hard core boots though, because the path does keep going.

I would recommend that AllTrails include all Trails in this Hiking Area instead of following a path that looks like it is in the middle of the loops.
