HikingGreat!

A very enjoyable hike across terrain associated with the opening scenes of the First Battle of Manassas. This hike takes you to Van Pelt Hill, where Evan's Confederate Demi-Brigade had its headquarters, as well as Farm Ford, where Sherman's Brigade crossed Bull Run. The trail up and down Van Pelt Hill has been much improved since I hiked this route a couple of years ago, making the walk much more plesant.

RunningGreat!

Great trail to run and bike on! Pretty flat for the most part. Attention to detail is required as there are many entrances / exits. Overall a great path.

Parts of trail are nice. Others are very muddy and not well maintained. In some parts there is a serious litter problem. Trash is strewn all over the trail and in the water. This includes broken glass, diapers, and beer cans.

Not bad at the beginning but the closer you get to 28 there’s lots of trash all along the river bank. Very unfortunate to see. Buggy and parts are muddy. Could be better with a little maintenance and a clean up.

Nice trail. Some sections end and then you have to cross through neighborhoods to continue. Overall very nice though, lots of wildlife and I felt very safe.

Walking

It’s nice. Quiet. Although I wouldn’t call this moderate. I think easy would best represent this trail.

Nature trips

Entire trail was either gravel or wood chips. I would not consider this a moderate trail. Good views.

Some parts of the trail were very muddy and slick. Very quiet! We only saw one other person while on the trails themselves.
