It was great but I really don’t believe it is good for dogs. Rocky just about the whole way. Definitely hard on the paws

I love this trail! It's not challenging, but it's perfect for a leisurely hike if your company is not in the best physical shape, or if you're going to be wearing a 3-year-old in a pack for several miles! The scenery changes but is beautiful the entire time.

Beautiful hike with some great views. My husband and I had a picnic on the rocks at the top.

This is my first "Hard" rated hike and this trail does not disappoint. We went before the tree canopy was in and the views all the way up were great. If you are in superb shape you might rate this as moderate. But, my 59 year old bones agree with the rating.

We hiked from parking lot off the Parkway to picnic area and back. It took a little over 5 hours. Good workout!

Beautiful View. I didn't do the trail because it was 19 degrees and super windy. But I was able to make it to the view point which was excellent and right off the park area. Ill be back for a hike.

I only hiked in 2.5 miles following Sprouts Run. It was beautiful. This morning my son and husband complained of itching. They were covered with tiny ticks. I had to pull hundreds from them. So, please make sure you have LOTS of bug spray on you.

Great hike, not too busy, when you get to the top there's a fork with no sign, if you go to the right there's one small outcrop of rocks with a beautiful view & if you keep going on that trail back down you end up at the Peaks of Otter Lodge. If you go to the left at that fork you come to at the top there's a nice flat rock outcrop with a beautiful view that's better for relaxing/snacking! Rocks are slippery when wet!

Great hike, beautiful views and well maintained. Just be careful going down - the trail is mostly loose gravel so it's kinda like hiking on ball bearings

Great hike, pictures on Instagram:w.a.b.flicks

I did not hike this entire trail. I just went to the overlook, and I was shocked more people weren't there. Just 0.1 miles off the road, it was a gorgeous view. The weather on the top of the mountain was cool and windy, which was perfect for setting up a hammock on a summer's day.

This trail is really not that difficult. Neighboring Sharp Top trail is more strenuous.

My previous review was for the short Thunder Ridge Overlook Loop before AllTrails merged it with this small section of the AT. I made it back today with my family so they could enjoy the wonderful view from the picturesque stone lookout on a beautiful summer day. I will be back to hike the Apple Orchard Mountain area and hopefully can included a longer portion of this scenic stretch.

I made it about a mile and a half in I think. It was wonderful, until a bear crossed the trail. I was by myself and when it went back to the other side across the water, I turned around. I'll have to come back and finish it with a partner. It was my first and last solo hike!

beautiful hike all the way through!

Trail is beautiful. Not great for running. Lots of stream fords. Very isolated. Didn't see another soul. One deer. No bears.

I've done this hike about four times now and the view is always incredible. The hike can get pretty tiresome since most of it is uphill, but the view is worth it. I'd say it takes about 2-4 hours. When you get to the top you do have to climb some rocks for a good view.

Ended up just doing Wilson mountain trail due to an unexpected late start and thunder storm. Very secluded and beautiful! Can't wait to go back and do the whole loop. And be careful-it was tick city! Had a few try to latch on

Couldn't find the trail! Directions sent me to a dead end road at one point. There was an old road that looked like it could have led to it, but was afraid to park anywhere as its a residential area. Ended up hopping back on the highway and going to Wilson mountain trail.

Good view at the top. The trail was a little over grown.

Great hike. Not as many people on trail. Limited view at the summit. But there are a couple of rocks at the summit to climb on for a view.

Warning: this easily turns into 11 miles if you do the Sprouts Run and Wilson Mountain loop

Still one of my favorite hikes! Great views with moderate traffic.

If you do the get directions option, it takes you to Peaks of Otter lodge, which is not the exact start of the trail, but it's close. I uploaded a picture to help.

The trail is easy to follow and not marked until you reach the summit. We went in mid February so there were no leaves, but the views were good, and the trail was not hard. No crazy incline, about 1.8-2.0 miles to the summit. There were some good places to have fun and climb rocks.

It is basically just a loop from one end of the parking area to the other (milepost 74.7). But the view from the pretty stone lookout deserves four stars. Be sure to look north for the huge boulder field at Devil's Marbleyard (a future destination for me). The Appalachian Trail passes through here, and affords the opportunity for some great hiking...maybe a trek south to Apple Orchard Mountain (the highest point on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia).

Trail from Otters of Peak lodge was hard, mostly vertical elevation, but worth the view at the summit.

I really enjoyed the hike to the top but unfortunately due to the weather it was too foggy to see the views at the top! Definitely plan to go back on a sunny day to get the full effect!
