Fantastic place, a hidden gem. Turned out to be one of my favorites. Paved walking path but still has places to walk in woods & grassy areas. Handicapped accessible which is really nice. Great for walking, biking, pictures with ares for sitting. Decent ponds throughout & the Shenandoah River is always nice. I rate it as easy for all ages. Good for all year around. Two thumbs up for Shenandoah University caring for this area & making it accessible to the public.

Well kept, beautiful scenary and paved trail with access to the water in multiple areas. Several places to stop and rest. The trail is easy except for the steep incline on the bsck half of the loop. There are bikers present so keep small ones close. Highly recommended for family hiking, biking or running.

Great hike for a couple of geriatrics!!.. Once crossed the ‘petite’ waterfall, it was a head scratcher trying to find the continuing trail as there were no blazes to be found except for a faded one right at the waterfall.. had to rely on searching for footprints.. sure enough, the traffic area was discovered by the mammoth boulder on your left... Then we almost missed the fire pit near the summit.. it will be on your right hand side... Then once you leave the fire pit/camp ground, turn right.. in perhaps four steps there will be another trail to your left that leads to another overlook..

Easy trail short enough for a quick hike.

This trail is a nice walk and easy going but we stopped at the waterfall because we didn’t know where the trail continued. We didn’t see any of the white markers so we turned around. Possibly gonna try it again next year

well maintained. Amazing old growth oak trees. Great afternoon hike. I did get a 30$ parking ticket, lame

Trail was ok, but we wouldn't do it again. Very rocky trail and not very scenic. The view at the top isn't worth it. We would have missed the waterfall completely if a group of hikers hadn't told us where it was on our way down. It's off the beaten path and can easily be missed.

Limited parking. And ‘No Parking’ signs along the side of the roads - tow zones. This trail was heavily trafficked and follows a rocky stretch of AT. The fall leaves on the ground added to the challenge of the terrain (good boots needed). Some parts of the trail not as clearly marked (look for white markers on the rocks too). Strenuous ascents and descents throughout. A nice view on the open ridge... especially of the fall colors.

I only took off a star for parking, but they have increased its size in the last couple years so if I could, I’d give 4.5 stars! I took it at a trot and got to the summit in 52 minutes. Return trip was a fast walk and it took just over an hour. The view is awesome (esp in the fall!) - bring snacks and just enjoy! One caveat not mentioned yet - be aware of the path you come off when you get the top. When I turned around to head back, I almost went the wrong way! (The paths are only a few feet away from each other!)

11/2/2019: Perfect day for hiking! Trail was not too muddy. There is a beautiful view at the overlook, but you will most likely share it with various hikers and families.

Beautiful trail and well maintained though I got off the trail once but that was because of me stopping to take pictures. As many reviewers said this trail is like a roller coaster with at least 3 steep ascent and descents. Its also very rocky and highly recommend good boots. That said, I think that this is more of a moderate difficulty trail. The view from the top is amazing and on a weekday its lightly trafficked

Nice easy walk with views from the lookout at the top.

Beautiful hike with great views! It’s a bit rocky as others have noted, so wear comfortable hiking boots!

More hard than moderate. Typical of this roller coaster section of the AT, grueling and boring with no summit reward.

lots of shade, great view at the top. enjoyed the rocky, up and down trail.

excellent cardio hike. the veiw was decent, not the best but its good for the area. i finished in just under 3 hours doing a leisurely pace, and exploring off trail in the campground/ravens eye area past the lookout

Great hike! I don’t recommend hiking past the lookout points. I didn’t see anything where the AllTrails trail ended. Beautiful fall leaves on the ground! Just follow the white tree markings!

Hiked this 10/20/19. It should be noted that this hike is off of a dirt road that gets very tricky when it's muddy, and the parking area is even worse. We hiked just after TS Nestor came through and I had a difficult time trying to park due to getting stuck in mud. The trail itself was a great short hike. There are a number of steep rocky spots. Pay attention to the recording when you get to the creek, as you have to go off the AT to get to the waterfall

This hike was stunning, definitely intense though; I’m pretty experienced and still found it challenging but the view at the end is totally worth it. Lot of fellow hikers on the trail but probably because I came on a Saturday morning. Also make sure you wear good hiking shoes because a majority of the trail is rocks. All in all, definitely check this trail out, highly recommend!

A few scrambles and beautiful views, the parking lot is small and it was pretty quiet!

One of the best hikes we've done this year. Not terribly long, but lots of ups, downs and curves. Knowing it hasnt rained the past 2 months, we werent expecting much at the waterfall, but the view at the top was nice and there's room to hang out and enjoy the view. Trails were clear and easy to follow. Parking area works as long as everyone parks to the left. My kids loved doing this hike today.

Great hike for old and young. keep in mind that it's very rocky so the terrain is very uneven. also, if you want a quiet hike leave early around 7-8 once 10AM hits, the big groups with dogs cover the trail. once up, the view is great. it will take about an hour up and 40 minutes down with a moderate pace.

This is one of the better hikes in the Northern VA & WV area. It is quite secluded and woodsy, perfect for couples, solo hikers, and families....as long as everyone is EXPERIENCED. Great for doggos as well. This is a very rocky trail, and the inclines on your way out are intense. It does live up to its name as “The Rollercoaster”. Typically, it should take 2hrs to complete. On the contrary, I’d go out for 4hrs and take your time, plus, take-in that view in WV! Remarkable. (Remember to follow the white markers on the trees & rocks.) -Sam
